Default Nitto 555s. Am I Missing Something?

Alrighty so nittos... good tractions. right?

i thought so too. picked up some ttiis and my dumb *** went 11" wide in the back

so basically i have like 4 tires to choose from...
went with the nitto 555s...

dah ****? i have 30 lbs in each...

i spun in 3rd gear at a 50mph roll....
another time went to pass a car, got on it too hard and almost lost it there...

so i dropped it down to 22 lbs in each and the side wall is even sagging...
I STILLL SPIN!! i eeven

im a bolt on car... 6 speed but i still didnt dump it at like 4K rpm

i just thought that nittos would be better than cooper zeons...

nitto extremes SUCK.. my buddy has them in a 315 and he cant get traction for crap.. my 275/40/17 Riken Raptors grip better than his nittos... they last a while but as far as traction... HORRIBLE...

hes going with a set of 315 NT05's next set.

I disagree, I'm running extremes in a 285, in COLD weather they suck, summer time they stick like a ************. But!! I did a quick burn out when I got them to rough em up a bit. That and they need to break in with a few heat cycles.

You won't be able to get all that much traction out of the 555. That's a great tire, made mostly for the every day driver. The rubber is much to hard to get the traction you want. I'm surprised, if they were new, that they spun @50MPH. I'm actually having the Nitto NT05 put on all 4 corners next week. they won't hook like a DR, but should get better traction than a 555. If you want traction you'll have to go with the 555R or something similar. Just be prepared to change the tires often. Good luck!

i had the 315's and i agree with baalic, in the cold they were like bricks...i cut low 1.6's on them though...and in the summer they were good... But cold = ice skating...

Like others said, they are a summer tire. They are rock hard until they heat up. In summer temps they are pretty sticky.

Nt05s,and the nitto drs are great tires,if ya wanted a good performing tire ya got the wrong ones,as someone said thats more of a dd tire, when its cold any tire i have had doesnt grip well at all, even my drag setup with 28 inch nittos will spin easy when its cooler out,the nitto drs are very good tires, wears like a normal tire and grips great,i have seen cars with twice the power of mine do really well with them,

idk WTF yall are doing ton them but in texas trust me it gets plenty hot in the summer... the only way his car WONT spin the tires under 50mph is if hes on the tollway (concrete) otherwise hes on full tubular rear, SFC's, monster clutch and longtubes. breaks them EVERY time

There not good tires for traction,i had a pair on my old zr1s that were complete crap even in the middle of summer, and really in a bolt on car,or even a cammed car it shouldnt be that hard to get it to hook, all the suspension in the world isnt going to make a huge difference if the tire sucks

17 don't have a lot of sidewall. I have 15 rims they have a lot more sidewall for traction.

I was cutting 2.0's on a stock ws6... not great but im not the best at launching my 6 speed yet....im getting there.... on stock tires, best i could cut was like a 2.6 60'.... also again, I have never had problems, they spin when i want and hook when I want, I have used a ton of other tires, and I still say the regular 555's hook better then any non R tire I have ever used..... Sure the R's will hook better under the right conditions, but I see people running 555's on just about every kind of car. Now over 400 hp, I would deff recomend the R's for the rear, but seriously, maybe something is up with your setup???

i personally wont use them.. and you have obviously never used an NT05... the regular one is much stickier than a 555.

to put it into perspective... the same car same driver one launch with 315 555's the other with 275 Riken Raptors. the rikens spun much less launching from a dead stop up to 70... they look cool but they really dont hook very well. and its not just fbodies.. my buddy only runs them in his 99 Cobra because they are the ony 315 he can get more than 30k miles out of them... they last thats the ONLY reason alot of people run em

Well, if something was wrong with my set up, then i wouldve had even worse traction than now. Im running 20lbs and its resonable. But well see how Summer is. Ill defiantly check out some nt05s. But maybe ill just sell these and order some 9.5 ttiis

I usually run 18-20psi on the track, but with 20 psi your tires arn't going to last for ****, I usually run 30-32 psi. My WS6 is mostly stock, but unless I dump the clutch, providing its warm out, my tires hook. There is a proper way to break in these tires, I forgot where I read how to break them in, but that could affect handeling and traction. Like I said, im not even running a 315, just a 285 and aside from the thread I posted recently when I learned they are like glass in the cold, in the summer time, these tires hooked better then the Falkens, Kuhmo, Goodyear Eagle F1's, BFG G-Force SS. Those are the 4 types ive been through before the Nittos and it was a litteral NIGHT AND DAY differance in traction and handeling. They have a new tire, "Nitto", called the "Motivo" that looks to be a better daily driver tire then almost any tire on the market if you drive your car all year. I was considering getting them for my Camaro, but I doubt you will find any tire that's hooking well in a mid-high hp rwd car in the winter...

If you want traction why not run the 555r? The regular 555s arent great but the 555r's aee fantastic. Did you mean to get the regular 555's? Or did you want the 555r?

I have them. I've got about 5k miles on the set now. They grip pretty damn good in the summer. Once it dips below 50 they start to get sketchy. If it's under 30 then .
