Default 17" ET Streets on First Impressions

Well, it's a beefy shoe man. I put it on a 9.5" ZR1 and it's very stealthy. I took it out for a hot lap at 20 psi. and I noticed that the rear end is very floaty when in the throttle a bit. I hate the feeling. It's like you're about to loose the car. I was considering getting 15" Bogarts next and was wondering if the floating was caused by the compound of the ET Street, the increased sidewall, or both over my old Nitto 275.

If the floating is because of the compound then it's okay, I'll run a DR on 15's, but if it's the sidewall I don't know what I'm going to do.

As far as performance, the tire has a lot of potential. I did a small burnout(2 seconds) at a light and launched hard enough to make my friend bite his lip and drop his cell phone. Ha. Gotta love that. What do you guys think?

its the bias ply nature of the tire, not the compound. If you are willing to go to 15 in rim, get the new MT ET STREET Radial that should be out mid June, supposed to hook everybody as good as the ET Drag without the "walloring" around. I will probably have to get the ET Streets now since the ET Street Drag Radials aren't going to be out until June.

I assumed he meant the Drag Radials. I've got some TTII's with rash on them, and I think I'm going to step up to x11's for the rear, and put some et street drag radials on the damaged ones as track wheels.. Keep us updated on how they hook

For anyone intersted in buying a set of these tires:
I have an MT ET Street tire for sale (only 1) 26x11.5x17...it has 3 track passes and about 100 miles road use on it. Like new condition...still has **** on it. I'll let it go for $75 bucks...That's less than half of a brand new one...PM me if any one is interested.

If you think a 17" ET street at 20 psi is floaty. Try a 16" Et street @ 12psi. MY rear hops around big time.

I think the floating feeling is the nature of running non-radial tires with the sidewall not refinforced for the crincle effect.

Peace

Hey, my car threw an ABS INOP and BRAKE light today. This has to be from the new ET Street, any ideas? Why?

That floating is caused from running a front radial and rear bias tire. Get yourself a set of bias skinnies for the front and your car will go straight as an arrow through the traps They still will handle like shitz around a corner though.

Yeah, I just don't like the way they sway and all. I'm going back to a drag radial when these get worn down.
