That will fit an 02 camaro to be used for RR. I am using an OE replica wheel currently and they seem awfully heavy.

I dont see anyother budget wheel being that much lighter than you already have, anything anyone is going to suggest is more than likely going to say oewheels, most budget rr setups i see consists of 17x11 zr1s on all 4s,your best bet is to wait for a deal that pops up that would suit your needs better ,also you can get a much better wheel used for a lil more than you would pay for a complete budget setup, hopefully someone else can be of more help

Haha. Yep, theres the rub. Affordable 7 years ago was $3-$4k. Now I don't have more then $1k to spend. I'm guessing that if I really want lightweight (15-17lb) wheels I'm looking at $1k apiece used. Ouch!

Could always check out the corvette guys with the ccw dragpacks. They are lightweight and I always see sets up for sale with tires for decent prices.

Spend the money once and get what you actually want with your hard earned coin. FYI you can get a set of forgestars that are relitivly light weight for $1300-1500 plus tires. Granted this is just wheels for a little more than your budget, find what you actually want that suits your needs and spend the money once rather than going through a couple of sets of "affordable" wheels before deciding they dont fit your needs and having to sucker up more coin to get what you could have bought to begin with.

But he wants a set for road racing, NOT 1/4 mile use (unless he convinces 2 y-body boyz to just sell him the rears).

Some of the new CCWs for road racing are fairly light, good looking, and can be had for <$1000.00/wheel (unlike; Fikses/HREs/etc.).
