Yes. It's a huge pain in the *** in Florida. When it's 90 degrees even at night. LOL

Even with air tools. Sucks pure ***.

Now I think I'm on the RT-S.... $1800 or so shipped for 17x9.5/11 combo and they weigh 19.4lbs and 20.2lbs... +39 offset and +46.... would sit flush. I could run Toyo R888s on those and that's a dual purpose tire (straight line and twisties) and it's good in the rain... so a good all around tire.

Or, I can do the 18s and open up access to the CTS-V brakes... but they are like $2400 shipped. Getting into CCW territory.

Personally, I'd rather be out in front with a small tire than in someone's rearview with a big tire.

Anyway, would it be better to go with 15x10s and Nitto NT555R 275/50R15s or the 275/40R17 version on either my stock 17x9s or the Race Star 17x9.5s? I imagine the 15s would hook a bit better? But would that be acceptable on the street?
I've put the 275/40r17 and 315/40r17 555Rs from my Camaro onto my Trans Am (which is similar to yours) and it won't hook for ****. I'm talking boiling the tires through mid 2nd gear at or near WOT. The car nearly dead hooks (street and track, 1.4x 60') on it's usual 305/35r18 Mickey Thompsons, so it's the tire and NOT the car. I've never used the 275/50r15 Nitto's, but I doubt they're much better.

IMO... For a street car a 275 tire is plenty on a 10" rim. It looks huge on a lowered car with a nice stance.

Street tires, not so much.. Drag radial looks bigger though.

I agree,i run a 275,on my prostars and it looks so much better than my smaller previous setup, fills wheel well nicely, and really a 275 is more than youll ever need with the right tire,i run nitto drs, great street tire, great tread life, good in the rain, and hook good with a solid warm up,i have had better tires but they burn up to fast
