Default 255 50 16 on stock 16" trans am rims?

Trying to get a budget track setup for my budget car. Will this fit my stock rims and not rub or anything? Stock height 98 camaro

Thanks!

I run the 255/50/16 MT drag radials on my lowered '98 Z28 on my stock 16x8 rims with NO problems when I go to the track!

First 2 is my track set-up on my stock rims. Stock 245/50/16 on front and Mickey Thompson 255/50/16 DR's on the rear. The 3rd picture are my "normal" rims...18x9.5 w/275/35/18's...

Forget the mickeys! I run 245/50/16 Nitto 555r. I had a 1.610 60ft with a stock 10 bolt today. They work you just gotta get a good burn out.

While one can't argue with your success (you 60' better than I ever have) a lot of us have had much better success with Mickeys than Nittos. I could never dead hook with Nittos. With Mickeys I can, and they dropped my times drastically.

I run a toyo tq on the stock 16x8 wheels and have no issues. They hook pretty good and cost less than both mt's and nittos.

I'm VERY happy with the way the 255/50/16 MT's hook! I would have liked 275/40/17 MT's, but from a budget standpoint, the 16's were the way to go since I already had the 16" stock rims laying around. I also found my MT's on eBay with very little use for $250 shipped, so when I found that deal, I pulled the trigger.

I personally think the 255/50/16 and the 275/40/17's would still perform very similarly. Yeah the 275/40/17 has a larger contact patch, but the 255/50/16 will alllow more sidwall flex on launch...

I got my nittos this past june for $350.00. You have to get a good burnout to make them effective. I had a set of m/t 255/50/16 first. I didn't like the way they went through corners or when stopping from a 1/4 run. I went faster with the nittos because there not as tall as the m/t. I avg this summer with 1.7 60fts with the nittos.
