Toyo Proxes TQ (Drag Radial) What's the consensus?
I've seen the 255/50/16 toyo proxes TQ drag radials with a very good price on them. I was wondering who has tried them and how well they hook on the track and on the street? Any idea on tire life compared to mickeys or hoosiers?
Thanks!
Thanks!

My son and I both run them. He uses them at the track with an automatic and I use bias Hoosiers with a 6 spd at the track. Toyo are a better drag radial then Nitto and work very well on the street for the price but they are no Mickey Thompson, Hoosier or M&H. There are better tires but not for the money. If you keep your expectation in the right place they will not disappoint you. They will also last way longer then the three tire brands I mentioned, tire life comes at a cost for sticky tires.

Good every day tires, I've driven in some pretty bad downpours on road trips and they werent too scary. They hook better than a normal street tire but I'm not to impressed with them, but being a stick car dr's aren't gonna hook too well from a dig for most anyway.

I run Nitto 555R 245/50/16 and they took me to 11.30 @121mph on the stock 95,000 10 bolt. You have to get a good burnout with them. I have beaten plenty of f bodies terminators, gt 500 and coyote 5.0's with them. I had a set of M/t 255/50/16 and hated them! I think it is an excellent overall drag radial meaning streetable and the price is not bad. I got 4 years out of my last set.

I believe Toyo and Nitto are the same company. I hear the Proxes TQs are slightly softer than the Nitto NT555Rs but harder than NT05Rs.
Last time I checked Proxes TQ's were priced amazingly less than Nittos.
It also may be worth noting that the Nitto NT555Rs run narrow. The Proxes TQs do not.

My best 60ft on the nittos is 1.630ft. The mickeys have a softer side wall so going into curves on the freeway you could feel the swaying effect. Once I got use to driving it like that I got use to it. Also stopping from a 1/4 run the nittos stopped smoother than the mickeys. I drive with my drag radials on all the time, and imo the nittos are a good fit to get you to the track and home afterwards.

I run the Toyo Dr's in a 275/45/16. I was honestly surprised they did aswell as they did on the track. My best 60' was a 1.70 hooking dead yanking the drivers side front wheel. Just for comparison the previous owner's best 60' was a 1.69 on MT et streets. They work pretty good on the street aswell. Granted mines a bolt on only car that dynoed at 344rwhp so it's not a powerhouse but bang for the buck you can't beat these tires.
