Default 285/35 or 285/40?

Getting new rims, staggered 17 and 18 the back I want drag radials but wondering which is a decent of both drag and street. I was thinking nitto 555r but heard they are slippery when wet.
What is the difference from 35 and 40?

I know I have multiple questions in there hope you can answer them all. Lol

I think you may run into ABS issues shortly. 4th gen
F-bodies expect equal diameter wheels and if you get
close to a 10% difference you will bother the ABS brain.

I like 285/40s for appearance on the 17" rim. They are
a bit more squirmy than 275/40s and need a little more
air pressure to handle well, enough that you may see
more center wear.

The actual sizing seems pretty variable, my Continental
285/40s are taller than the Cooper 285/40s I had before.

not worried about abs swapped out all rotors and brakes with brembos on the note of the 275 I may just go with 275 then. What's the diff in 35 and 40"s for 275? Height is all?

Generally speaking, almost any drag radial you go with is going to be "slippery when wet".

The Nitto 555R is one of the more street-friendly drag radials out there. They offer a nice upgrade in straight line traction over regular street radials and you can still get 10,000+ miles out of them (depending on your driving style). If you're looking for the absolute best from a traction standpoint, there are better options out there however there's a trade-off (reduced durability, more expensive, less forgiving in the rain, etc.).

Personally, I love the road courses, so I went with the 555R II. Good soft compound offers straight line traction that's still better than a street radial however the stiff sidewalls are great for cornering. Next time around, I'll likely go with the Toyo Proxes 888 -- they offer similar appeal and have great reviews on the board.

What tires should I get for the front if I get drag radials for the back? Just normal tires?
