Default Toyo TQ, summer daily driving?

I recently picked up some Toyo TQ drag radials for my stock 16s but I'm debating if I should sell them and just pick up a set for the rear and run them during the summer. It's just an LT1 with the typical bolt ons and converter. I will have a tubular rear suspension setup too. I know the TQ is a great tire but is it friendly to DD on in the warm months?

I'm guessing from what I've read the answer is "yes" as I just ordered a pair and will be running them daily spring through fall. I suppose we can compare notes when the results are in

255/50/16. I'm putting my 17" wheels with worn 275/40 Nittos on my M6 car (rarely driven) and going back to 16's on my DD. 245 Nittos are too skinny and not sticky enough, and 255 Mickey's are really for getting to the strip and back, so I'm going to try these as a true street/strip combo this year.

Steve, when I did drive on those tires I had no problems daily driving them when I actually drove the car. I got caught in the rain a few times and they were fine, just have to be cautious like with any drag radial. I got the same ones for my zr1s and plan on dd with them this summer.

Like I told you when you picked them up from me, they are awesome tires and youll like them.

Toyo TQ drag radials work fantastic as a driver, great compromise yet still perform well. My son and I both run them on our street wheels.

Yeah I know they will be great but I don't think I'll be driving enough to justify having a spare set of wheels. Ill figure it out lol

Got mine mounted on Friday and did a fair amount of driving and then took them to the track today. At the track, my impression is that they have a stiffer sidewall and are less sticky than Mickeys. I had to drop them to 15.5 lbs. to get them to hook, whereas my Mickeys would generally hook at 20-22 lbs.

On the street, the stiffer sidewall means less wallowing than Mickeys, and the tread pattern is much more reassuring were one to run into rain.

My verdict: In 16" size, these are more of a "street" drag radial, like Nittos, but bigger and better hooking than Nittos. They will also handle track duty better than Nittos, but not as well as Mickeys, (or according to what others have posted, Hoosiers or M&H). I think they'll make for a great warm weather sticky street tire. I'm very happy with my purchase - a true street/strip tire, IMO.

I used these on my car while DD even in the rain, 18k miles on them and they still have some decent tread. That's with 5-7 track passes and messing around on the street. I though I only had 14k on them but I found the receipt which was the same month I put a cam and stall in my car which was at 100k and I now have a tick over 18k.
