Default traction issues

right now i have stock 245 60 16 on the rear of my camaro. would going to a 315 35 18 bfg dr provide me better traction because of the width of will it be worse because of the lack of side wall? as always you input is greatly appreciated.

You will see a big improvement... no need to go that wide to hook either with any DR. It should look fat though!

yes. i have lca's,pan rod, fraim welded and tq-arm. i was cutting low 1.7's stock suspension, but it broke my stock tq-arm off the car,the m6 will do that. so...i up graded a little. the 1.59 was on 5-year old tires,i hope this year with my new tires i'll go low 1.5's or hi-1.4's(that would be nice)

i was told the 245-50-16 drag radial will perform as good as the 275-40-17 or 315-35-18 for drag racing (ie low psi). I guess the spiel was that the extra sidewall of the 245-50-16 , well its a lot of sidewall to flex versus a 40 or 35 series tire the latter having nearing no flex.

18's? sux when the rims cost less than the tires huh.

samz28-the m&h racemasters (musclecar drags)i pulled a 1.5 60foot on and pulled my front wheels off the ground was a 305/40/16 a 40 series tire. but, i am droping down to a 15'' rim for more side wall and hook.

naw i was just saying the TIRE COST sucks for 18's. i was about to get a set of z06 18's but then realized i'd be spending nearly a grand on tires (good fronts, drag radials in back). Plus all these damn cheap oem rims aren't built very tuff (bbs forged = strong rim).

Whats the actual sidewall height on a 305-40-16 versus a 315-35-18? I suck at math. Are you saying the 305-40-16 has nearly the same size sidewall as the 315-35-18?

I think you mean 315/30/18, which will be fine depending on the wheel's offset.

The 35 sidewall would produce too much height, plus I dont even think a tire exists in that size.
