Default please advise going to the track!!!!!!!!

I have a 99 t/a with full bolt ons . I'm running nt555 275/40/17 on 9.5 wheels. Came off a awd turbo car so traction wasn't a problem. Going to the track so i need to know few things . do I need to warm up these tires to get better traction/launch? If so how long of a brake stand? Do I run through the water pit or drive around it? What tire pressure? Should i power brake it off the line or just let it idle then floor it? When I floor it from dead stop on the street it spins pretty good. Tires have approx 250 miles on them now. I have 3:23 and stock converter. Plz give me info/procedure? I have been to the track a bunch of times but with awd car that i've owned for the last 15 years so I need advice on rwd car. So plz help me out.thx

I'd drive around the water box, and try your first run coming off idle. Then go from there

Personally I wouldn't even go with those tires unless they are the 555r. I wouldn't do a burnout with street tires. Street tires are a waste of time but that's my opinion.

But when you go don't drive through the water. Just leave the psi at stock if using street tires. Try stalling it to 1000 or so and try off idle. See what works best.

If you spin a lot then your screwed. Nothing you can do with street tires. Coming from a all wheel drive you will probably hate it without sticky tires. Leave it in d or 3 try them out I don't think it matters.

Thx for the advise. Yeah I could be a lot higher hp cars with the awd. That's only thing I don't like about the rwd .Love the roll on power though.

I agree with Senical...there is only so much you can do on a basic street tire.

I went with street tires (brand new yokohomas) a few years ago but the only time I would hook is when I was one of the first few people in line. First pass my almost stock car just Boltons did 13.1 in a 2200 da which was pretty good. After that I realized what a waste of time street tires were. If you can get there to be the first few in line then maybe you can hook up. The track I used to go to goes to hell after the first few passes. The water gets everywhere and such. Get some sticky tires and do a nice burnout. You will end up loving rwd

I know what you mean. I see your in NY? I was going to Epping. 2-2.5 hrs drive for me. Sometimes I would toss the drag radials in the trunk and change them up there lol.

Best thing you can do is be the first guy in line or close to it. Make sure its a nice day where the sun has been beating on the track all day. After the sun goes down and people drag water its a lot worse. Just go have fun and get the feel. Then make plans to get yourself some tires
