Lug nut washer with Weld RTS- Concern?
I have Weld Rts with Weld 601-1452 lug nuts on factory length studs.
I've only installed the wheels one time and torqued them to 85 lbs if I recall correctly, but when I took them off today the washers were formed to the lug nut pretty bad. Almost bad enough I'm concerned if they will still do what their intended to do safely. Here is a couple of pictures. They were perfectly flat before they were installed.

Looks to me like they were put on way too tight, or that is really poor quality metal. Also the outside diameter must not have been very big.
My original washers were not very big around, and got squished up a bit, but nothing like that. I just bought some bigger washers from Advance Auto Parts, they are a larger diameter (almost fill the hole completely) and have held up pretty good so far.

Just for grins, I looked at Weld's website, and the lugs they show for these wheels, are the lugs the OP has. If he's having issues, and it also seems that others are, maybe someone should contact Weld directly. Possibly they incorrectly drilled a batch of wheel centers.
I bought my first set of aftermarket wheels over 40 years ago, and have had a number of different sets in that time period. I've never seen anything like that before.

I called and spoke with Holly from Weld this morning and I explained the issue I am having. She informed me they are aware of the possibility that this can happen and that they are not hardened washers. She recommended I buy a set of Gorrila or Mcgard lug washers.
I pointed out that this is the lug set they recommend for these wheels and if they were aware of this issue why would they continue to recommend them. I spent $50 on this lug set that the washers are trashed after one use and now I'm being told the best thing to do would be to spend another $20 on a set of Mcgard washers. I asked if they could send me a replacement set of washers and she said no they'll probably do the same thing.

HOLY CRAP!!!
What kind of A) product design is that; and B) customer service???
Know what, now that I give it a second thought....Grade 8 washers might do the trick, and might be less costly.

I don't think it's just the washers that are the problem. If you look at the face of the lug nut that sits against the washer the Weld lug nuts are more rounded/tapered where as the McGard ones are flatter like a machined surface.

what is the part number on the better washers?
I actually had a good experience with weld. Summit send my lugs and the package didnt have any washers.
They sent me a whole new set of lugs and washers and a bag with a hand full of washers for free.

I am wanting to replace my lugnuts now, I have tried new better washers but I think it is the nut that is the main problem (not enough washer to nut surface) these are what weld wants: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLD-601-1452/
These are what I can find to replace:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WL...g-nuts-page-09 (short mag open end last row of page)
or: http://www.mcgard.com/index.php/auto...gory_pathway=0
Both replacements seem to have slightly smaller shank diameter. the mcgards are .008" smaller while the gorillas are .002" smaller. I like the way the mcgards look better, would either of those two have problems with that slight difference in width?

I bought McGard 60129. Haven't had any problems yet. This is the part number Weld recommended when I called.
