Default 325/45-17?

Ok guys don't murder me here because I have searched (may not have been searching the right thing) but a lot of the info I have found on this size is from before 2010. I'm pretty sure M&H has changed the mold since then, or so Iv been told.

Ok I have a 2000 stock ride height Formula, with no plans to lower the car. The currently has bolt ons, Drag suspinsion, 9" rear with 4:11s, and a 220r cam, sitting on 17x11s in the back with NT05R 315/35-17s and they are not enough, tire is just to short, and the car is getting a bigger cam and heads as we speak so I'll need something else. I have tried the MT ET 2s before in a 295/45-17 on a different car and didn't like them very much at all. Looks like my options are either M&H 275/50-17 (to narrow for my wheel) or M&H 325/45-17.

My question is to the ones who run this size tire. will this tire fit without any modifications to the car? I keep reading about the "bfh" mod, what is that, big freaking hammer? Lol. I'd really like to give these tires a shot as long as they won't require big modifications to the car. Also I'm open to another suggestions.

If you haven't done any modifications to your wheel well yet, the bfh and grinding the bumpstops will most likely be your first step. IMO it sounds worse than it is, I'll be doing it sometime next year myself, not like anyone is inspecting the rear wheel wells.

I'm wanting some nice meaty tires, I just don't want to have to cut up the wheels wells if I can keep from it. Can someone explain what the bfh mode actually is, and what's the process for it?

Bfh mod requires use of big freaking hammer, if u put ur hand behind the tire in the rear fenderwell, u will feele where it is close to the tire, where if u put a large tire like 305 325 it wud touch and rub, u basicly bash in the fenderwell where it wud touch, giving extra clearance. If u search it there are hunch of pics, look at the tire from the side as a clock, its about from 9-11 on the clock.

I'm thinking you'll need to grind your bump stop as well. There are also some writeups on that

Bolted these up today. No BFH. I will measure back space tomorrow and post up. No griding bump stops either.

Just have to say, VERY nice looking car. I may be partial tho 😁

I had to roll the fenders and BFH to get 315's to fit, only because I have strano springs.

There's a difference between bolting them up and riding with them...check them before putting a lot of miles on them.

I ran a 325 size tire on my rear CCW 505a's. In order to get them to fit properly, I needed to use a big hammer and "massage" the inner fender some. I was at stock ride height as well.

Awesome thanks! I'm hoping that's all I will have to do as well. I'm looking forward to them, the 315/35-17s were hurting before the new cam and heads, I can only imagine how they would be after lol

I was running the 325 size tires on 20 inch rear CCW 505a's, and this was after heads/cam/full-bolt-ons. Believe it or not, the car hooked up remarkably well for such a thin side-wall tire. Nothing like my new 15" Race Star Dark Star/Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial combo, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Oh ok awesome. I'm either going with these, or getting a 17x9.5 wheels and going with the M&H 275/50-17s
