Default Boyd wheel repair(minor dent in lip) Anyone have real experience?

I have a Boyd Timeless II wheel that has a slight bend in the outer lip. It vibrates the wheel between 55-65 MPH only, so I'd like to get it fixed.

It is minor, but the few shops around here are weary of trying to fix it for some reason and can't give any definitive

answers.

Can anyone here share ways they have had theirs repaired that worked well?

Hard to tell, but I circled the small dent.

Any advise?

Did you buy these wheels used? I would think that any reputable wheel repair shop could knock that out without much trouble. It may require you shipping it off to some place that you'd trust and that's known for fixing things like that. Those are beautiful wheels and I'd had to see some local shop jack them up because they don't know what they are doing. I've always been a huge fan of Boyd's wheels. I wouldn't mind having your set myself.

Yes. These wheels were originally on our car when we bought it back in 2004! My wife missed them so much, we got them back(3rd hand, I believe). I want to make sure they are 100% before putting all new rubber on them. I LOVE the look of some 315/35 on a 17" wheel.....

Damn, I agree. Since you've invested so much time, money, and effort into those wheels, do some research and find out who the best is at doing those repairs, and then ship that bad boy out so they can do it right. It's going to cost you more in the end, but you'll have the piece of mind that it's being done by someone who knows what they are doing, and that they are going to be done right. If you ever get the urge to sell them again, hit me up with a PM. I've got my current setup for sale right now, and I'd love to have those wheels. Any clue if they make them anymore? I know Boyd's either runs his dad's old company, or has his own company, but I haven't been in contact with him in many years. I had asked if they could still produce the Smoothie II's.

I will do it man! I agree with finding the best person for the job, doing it right, ONE TIME!

After the split or whatever happened, they are making them again, slightly different though. I like the old design better, myself.

I agree, I like the old style much better. I'm sure finding a good set is going to be hard.

I had a set of those on mine until 2010-ish. I love the look of those original Timeless II's, I just couldn't take the pain of upkeep on (what was then) a daily driver.

I hope you're able to get that fixed!

I remember that. We were the only two with them!

Then we both went up to 19s!

Cut a 10-12" section off a broom handle, then use it, along with a 3 pound sledge, to straighten the "rolled edge"....

I wonder how that would affect my balance? It has a slight vibration now from 55-65(or last time I had tires on them)

It seems so minor I'm having a hard time understanding why people don't think it can be fixed

Have you talked to any of the well renowned wheel repair shops? I don't see how that couldn't be repaired either.

I'm sure billetwheelrepair will get you taken care of. A local shop will likely just mess it up even more.

Dropping them off today with a local guy. He is going to do them personally on the side(and has a Supercharged C5 Z06 with CCWs.) I am bringing him both front ones to look over.

I'll keep everyone updated.
