Default General tire pressure questions

When the tire says (MAX PSI 44LBS) for example, does that mean that is where we are supposed to run them at that psi. I know on my F1's on the TA I run at 45psi and 22PSI in my Nittos. But for my winter car, with Yokohama AS430's it also says max pressure of 44lbs, but I have been running at about 35-38 for ride comfort (its a new Taurus). Am I losing tread life, or should I run at what the tire says?

Never run a tire at "Maximum" tire pressure . . Typically (not hard fast rule though) you should follow the recommendation on the door sticker, Recommended pressure is around 30 psi COLD, and when a tire gets hot it increases by about 4 lbs.

45 psi is WAY too high for the tires on your TA and is dangerous because you have gone over the max inflation rating. The recommended pressure for our cars is 30 psi cold, like Xsta said.
