Default Tire sizing for traction

Has anyone ran nt05s in 295/35/18s in the rear on a 400whp fbody?

Hows traction? I want to be able to use 1st gear.

Car has 410 gears and a moser 12 bolt. Not a daily. Will not see rain.

My buddy ran those exact tires in that exact size on his 450 rwhp stalled auto HCI LS1. He said traction was horrible. Went to a 305 555R and said they are way better

I thought it would be the other way around with the nt05 having more traction.

I don’t want to go wider just because the price jump on 305s and 315s is quite a bit. Not to mention they’re all drag radials. I’m just a street driver.

NVM didn’t notice the R in the 555R haha

The NT05R will have better traction than the 555R, but the regular NT05 will not.

How’s the tread life like?

NT05s - 15-18k
Nt555Rs - 10-12k
NT05Rs -5-8k

Doss this look right?

Where do Toyo R888s fall in this line up?

I’m at 370whp with a small cam (lots of low end) and 410 gears. I’m hoping for 400 after heads/intake. It’s a 6 speed.

No traction from a dig or rolling? What about a 30mph roll?

I'd say that is fairly accurate. I hear the R888 is similar to the 555R in straight line traction

I have that exact tire on all 4 corners of my car and am around 380 wheel through a 6 speed. first gear isn't bad, (still have the 10 bolt so don't launch it often) it'll spin for a few seconds then hook up and go, but I still have the factory 3.42's so not sure about 4.10s. just put a fresh set on this spring after 5 summers on the first set I had (car sits dec-april). when I go turbo I'll probably put an nt05r on the back and keep regular nt05's on the front

Debating between the nt555R and Bridgestone R888. The R888 is suppose to be good in cornering too.

at 30 it spins some depends on how much tire pressure is in them. Just spend the extra $20 and go for mickeys

Most drag radials suck on the street.....

I tried BFG drag radials on my car when it had 500 RWHP.......tried all different pressures. I could spin them through the 1/8 mile on the street.

I wore them out quick and got regular street radial Goodyear GS-D3's.......they hooked 10 times better than the BFG drag radials.

My cousin used r888's and had previously driven on 555r's and mickeys , his thoughts were the r888's were between a mickey and a 555r. Sizing wise the r888 is more similar to mickey as in being sixed large vs the 555r which is sized small.

What size should I go with using the r888s? I am lowered on Sam Strano springs and Koni adjustable shocks. 18” c5 z06 rep wheels with a 56mm offset.
