I have a set of 99 vette wheels (18 in the back and 17in the front). I do think it handles a tad better but nothing to crazy. I like the look but, to me not worth the extra cash for 18in tires. If you want a pic I can post one.

Will be very interested to know whether you encounter
any ABS/TCS peculiarities; if so, let us know what / how
and the front/rear tire sizes. I have a similar (less
extreme size difference) question.

I have 18x10's in the rear and 17x9.5's up front. Tires are 275-40-17's and 295-35-18's which are relatively the same height. No ABS issues. Some pics in sig. My only complaint is the sidewall is noticeably different front to rear on the tires. A 295-40-18 would be ideal for the rear looks wise, but you'd def. need to program the computer to handle the taller tire.

Same here. I have 17x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 in the back. They look good. I had 18s all around before and I feel like it handles a little better now. I have pics here http://www.cardomain.com/id/99ta_ws6. The first couple in the drive way have 18s on the front and back but the rest are the 17/18 combo

I am not a huge fan of the 17/18 combo on a F-Car, since the sidewalls of the tires wind up different since the overall daimeter of teh tire "should" be the same.
Granted, everyones cars look great, but the 17/18 work son the Vette because the tires are different diameters too.
IHMO if you are going to spill the beans for new wheels splurge for 18" all around!
This is an old pic of my SS on Z06 replicas 18" x 9.5" w/ 275/35ZR18 and 18" x 10.5" w/ 295/35ZR19. Handling, the car is like on rails, but there is a touch more road wander, but nothing too bad.
