Default Inexpensive but deadly.

I purchased my '99 SS last year with kuhmos all around. I have no experience driving high performance cars with manuals. After a few trips down the track, I'm now able to pull off mid 1.8s 60' times. Stock clutch and stock gears. I tried bfgs but found it easier to cut these 60s on the kuhmos. I can't understand how a tire that's as hard as these work so well.

With a sticky tire, you either hook or you bog.

With a hard street tire, you either spin forever, or spin just a little, hook, and go.

Got 20k miles out of first set had been bracket racing for six months every weekend on them before replacing with the new set 5k miles on them before i left on deployment. still have one of the first set as a spare i have had good luck out of them but only run them on the rear of the car. may not be the best tire but they did win me a street class track championship and saved alot of time swapping wheels and tires at the track.

Yeah I got 20k on mine and I fell like I'm driving on a frozen lake. they were good for the first 10k like todd said but after that downhill. Definetly getting ready to purchase some Goodyear Eagle F-1 GS-D3's.

I have also pulled 1.7 (1.78) 60 fts on Kuhmo 712's.....but it is a lot easier in a 2.73 geared stalled auto

1.8 with a 6 speed and full street tires is pretty damn imrpessive!

One 50 foot burnout probably = 1,000 miles. So just figure those burnouts into your tire mileage....Shredding the tires is fun, but..... WJ

I've heard mixed things on the Kumho's, they're great, and that they suck. I wonder why so many people buy them? Maybe because they're cheap. So many of us have have big fat tires and can't afford rubber to put on them. Including me.

My next set will probably be Kumho Ecsta MX's. 180 each and fairly good ratings, they look kick *** too!

Kuhmo MX's are OK for the money. I'm not happy with mine, but I needed cheap tires.
