Sweet. Now I know what to do with my WS6 wheels. Hmmm I wonder if he can widen the rears to 11" as well??

If they can be narrowed, they can be widened. How do the motorcycle tires do with the weight of the car? What are they rated at? This is something I have been thinking about doing for awhile, I've just been hesitant because of quality tire selection.

Now you guys got me thinking about doing it to my G2 wheels...narrowing the fronts to 3.5" and using the leftover material to widen the rears to 11". If they can do it that is..

I wouldn't mind doing something like this to OE SS wheels, or 17" C5 wagon wheels. Those can be bought cheap enough. I'm just worried about the tires holding up.

I wonder if there are any 17" tires that are skinny enough but are thicker than rubber bands?

You could go with a 275/50/17. That would give you a pretty decent sidewall. I'm not sure if there are any DR type tires in that size though. I am more worried about the front tires. A 3.5 or 4" wide 17" tire that will hold the weight SAFELY could be a problem. And I could see a wheelstand being a big no-no.

Is1290- them rims look just as good if not better then any ive seen, Im curious as to how the bike tires will hold up.... MH is suposed to be coming out with a 17" skinnie anyway so there will be options later down the road... thanks for the pics please post up some pics when you get some meat on them bones....

I think wheelstands would be ok long as you stay into it, thoe Im not sure I would want to be the ginnie pig

I was talking about for the front 17x3.5's. I'd run 315/35's if I had the rear ones widened to 11". Not too many to choose from in passenger car tires for such a narrow rim in a 17" diameter. I'm not too sure about the motorcycle tires either. I may go search a few tire sites and see what I can pull up.

Yes, they are a set of 16x8 chrome TA wheels narrowed to 16x3.5. I am running a bias 150/80/16 motorcycle tire on them. The tires are working great and are rated 149+ mph. I picked them up at http://www.americanmototire.com/

The wheels look nice. Which exact tire are you refering to ?

Do you have any pics of the whole package on the car ? I am wondering what the motorcycle tire looks like on the car.

Thanks, J

The chrome 5-stars look pretty cool.

CCW makes a 17" skinny that is used on Vettes, Vipers, Supras, etc.

I had my rear 17"/9" WS6 rims widened to 11" but i can't find a set of slicks that will fit safely on a 11" rim so i have a set of four 16" chrome TA rims and I can put a set of ET-streets on the rear I'm going to widen the rear to 11" and
narrow the fronts to 3.5" How did you cut the rims did you use a lay or what. Mickey Tonpson e-mail me a bout a week ago and said they where comming out with a ET-Street for our 17"/11" this fall ,like a 26" or 27"/12.5"/17" at the SEMA show and would be for sale to the public at the first of next year 06 . Can't wate.
