Default Kumo Tires Good?

<--- Yea i know this is probably the wrong forum... but don't be a dick and post this icon! I've looked for this option in other forums but this is the one i thought would fit, since i browse through this forum everyday anyways! To the point... My tires are bald... when i say bald their pretty bad! So today im getting them done at a local tire shop... buddy of mines owns. I told him i wanna stick with street tires since i'll be a daily driver, but want something to have traction on the track! And he told me Kumo is what i'm looking for and to go with. There not too exspensive and are a good quality tire he say's? What are your opinions on this and everyone tells me i need Nitto Drag radials... but i don't. If i ever get real serious and into drag racing down the road... maybe. But for now im set... This should be an intresting post... give it a shot! thx

-Did i make a good decision on the Tires? i hope they'll grip good!

I have two sets of them. I think they're great for a long-life street tire, but not all that good for drag racing. You're better off doing like I did and bought two extra stock wheels and slapped some drag radials on them for track use.

I guess once I got the drag radials, NO street tire compares.

What he said. Good street tire, but not very good at the track. No tire is going to perform like a DR and last like a street tire.

I like my 712's, my buddy is running the newer Kumhos and he can cut 1.9s all night long easy. Dipped a few 1.7s IIRC.

I can't imagine why you would want to put this in External Engine when there is a specific forum called Wheels and Tires. Go figure.....well its in here now.

i had the kumhos ecsta supras on my previous LS1 SS and was fairly disappointed in them. didnt buy them with all out performance in mind, but the treadwear was not very good despite the bad traction.

i bought some falken 451's on this car for a higher mileage Z tire, and love them so far. traction and wear are much better, alot better deal for the money in my opinion.

also, what kumho's did you get? in what size?

On my second set of Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s, and I think they are a great tire for the money. Cut as low as 1.91 60's on them, but usually in the 2.0X range. Good treadwear, very little road noise compared to my old Bridgestone Potenza RE730s that everyone raved about a few years back, good in the rain and they can move in the snow (although no 275 tire is going to do great). Not an amazing tire by any means, but for their price point they are a very good buy IMO.

Other tires that come highly recommended are the Falkens. Had a few buddies that swear by them. Might give them a shot the next time around. If you want to stick at the track, get a spare set of wheels and some drag radials. Street tires wont hold any kind of decent power.

I've got 30,000 miles on my Kumho's, and they still have about 40-50% treadlife left.

great street tire for the price. That said, they don't last very long, especially if you're an aggressive driver.

I have two on the car right now. I think they are pretty good. I haven't had them for a real long time but I would say I have about 10k on them. They have been good tires so far

the MX is a great tire the 711 and 712 suck. the only thing about the MX is they don't last very long I wore my rears out in 12000 miles and a lot of that was highway driving! I would highly recommend the MX if you want a great handling tire with lots of traction.

I have ASX's on my car right now, probably the best street tire i've driven on. Good in the rain, around corners, and even burnouts

In the future tho, im putting on Nitto 555's

Default kumho tires

I had a set on my car and they seem to be good tires for the price. They seemed to last for a good while even with a heavy foot every once in a while.
