Default Question about the width of the tires...

i am gettin the zo6 motorsport chrome rims in 18s... wraped in toyo tires... (low profile i believe)

10.5 in the rear and 9.5 in the front... the guy at belle tire said 255 for the front and said 285 would good for the rear...

anyone have this sort of setup? is the ride rough with this? and is there any suggestions for the best setup...

it would be much appreciated... i dont no much about tires...

thank you very much...

Yes it will have a rough ride with those tire sizes. 295/35/-18's on the rear will be better, but still rough. 17 inch rims are much better.

they will make a difference because of the shorter sidewall over the stock wheels. Go with the 295 in back and 275 in front like mentioned.

A little offtopic, but ride harshness is dependent on the tire compound as well.
I've got a set of 17" ZR1's with Nitto 555RII's and those ride very, very rough, much rougher than my 18" Z06's.

Yeah, I think the Goodyear GS-D3's are a bit softer and thus should be a bit better of ride (if noticeable over another tire), but mucho $ for those.

275/35ZR18 front and 295/35ZR18 rear is the perfect combo.

Not really the rubber compound, but how the sidewall is designed and how many belts they used. Tires that are made for high speed or a road race course have stiff sidewalls and give you a really rough ride. RII's, Potenza 750's, Michelin Pilot sports are good examples, and those aren't even real race tires. Try a set of Hoosier autoX or road race slicks if you want to see stiff.

In general, an fbody is better off running 16's or at the most 17's. With 18's or bigger, you lose both lateral and linear traction, heat disipation capacity, and ride quality. They are a looser all they way around. You really need IRS to make decent use of a 35 or 30 series tire, and even then I've heard owners say they lost traction.

You are right Cal, totally forgot about the much stiffer sidewall on my RII's.
They are so stiff that I had a flat tire and it just looked a little low.
