yokohama avs es/100
of the three differnt dires i've had on my 02 SS (Goodyear Eagle F1 oem, Sumitomo HTRZ II, and the yoko's....i'd recommend the Yokohama's.
the eagle's just don't grip near as well and don't end up lasting as long, b/c i end up sliding all over the place scrubbing extra rubber off. so if you aren't an agrresive driver you may not have that issue...but they are too expensive for as long as they lasted me. the sumitomo's are the cheapest, good grip, but have a pretty soft sidewall. the yokohama's in my opinion are the best, excellent traction both wet and dry, with stiffer sidewalls.
grip
gy - low wet and dry - $~200
sumi - good wet and dry - $110
yoko - best wet and dry - $130
handling feel
gy - direct feel, quick turn in
sumi - softer, flexible, slower turn in
yoko - direct feel, quick turn in
sound feedback
gy - high pitch squeel
sumi - no squeel, just a 'scrubbing' noise of the rubber on the road
yoko - a subdued squeel

I have the Bridgestone Fuzion ZRi's and like they a lot so far. I get good traction, seems to not wear very much but they are still pretty new. No problems i nthe rain so far. Seems like a very nice tire. They stick pretty good and i only get a little squak in my 1-2 shift.I got a nice smoke show from my donut the other day too, pretty sweet. I ahve 245/40/18s up front and 265/35/18 out back. Cost $725 mounted and balanced from Firestone.

I did my research and I'm buying Fuzion's. They're 1 point away from GS-D3's as far as "Wet traction" goes, but these days they don't make tires that handle like **** in the rain unless it's a slick.
Besides when rain hits the ground it's time to let off the go pedal anyways.
I've seen 1.7's cut on ZRi's.

I've got about 14,000 miles on my ZRi's right now, I think I can get at least 18k out of them....and I'm a very hard driver....every turn is a chance to punish my tires!

another for gsd3's. things are absolutely amazing in the rain. but i cant get them to hook for anything personally. kinda dissapointed there cause i was told they were in the same hookup region as nitto dr's almost.
from a 1st gear roll punching it...all over the place, going into 2nd at 4k and bust loose again then chirping 3rd for a bit..
on an almost stock car? maybe i just need to shift at a lower rpm.
