Sheesh, I've been running my 18x9 EVOs for almost a year w/o the rings... and not a problem to date. I check the lugnut torque at least twice a month, and they've never come loose. The ride is great, too. No shakes, rattles, etc.

j/k....i dont think it will really make a differance unless your constantly swappin rims for show/and go. wear and tear on the plastic ones will be more in that case than the aluminum.
