WTF? 'Lugnuts' on SS rims?

2002 SS. I bought it new, NO lock lugnuts. It had the Chrome 10 spoke SLP/SS 17" wheels.

just what i thought. all cars that came from GM have locking lug nuts. all cars that went through SLP had them removed.

unless someone can come up with definiate evidence otherwise "all 98-02 cars came with locking lugnuts from GM"

My 97 B4C doesn't have 'em, but my 99 Firebird does...

I since replaced the above wheels with the 17" 35th Anniversary Wheels (black and machined) that I bought new from GM. They came with the valve stems, lug nuts, lug nut covers and center caps. Again, no locking lugnuts. Of course that doesn't mean GM didn't use them on the cars.

I couldn't find any mention of them in the 2002 brochure.

My 99 didn't come with them, but my friends 2000 and another 2002 did. Hmmm. I really wonder how the decision was made to put them or not.
