Default HPR5 vs Privat Profil SHOWDOWN (Post pics) Anyone have HP in chrome??

Well I cant make up my mind. Until yesterday i thought these were both the same wheel. However there ARE subtle differences. The HPR5 or the Privat Profil? Both can be had for ~$700 for a set of 18x9 shipped to my door. I wanna get silver light (HPR5) or Quicksilver (Profil). Although HP makes a chrome version for $400 more. If i saw how good they look i might consider. Post up your pics of the two and lemme know your opinions. Hopefully thisll help others too.

or even chrome HPR5:

Dude, I was just going to post the same exact topic! You beat me to it! Weird

Anyway, HP does not offer the chrome HPR5 in our bolt pattern for some reason. If you wanted them chrome, you would have to have them sent out and dipped. I ran into this situation a few weeks ago, you can read about it here. I was actually going with the 19" sizes, the lip on the 19s is about .5" deeper.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...highlight=hpr5

If you would like to go the chrome route, you might want to check these wheels out. They are made by Stern Wheels and they are called the ST-11 Its a very similar wheel to the HPR5, I actually like the ST-11 a little more. I called Stern and they are expecting the wheel to be available sometime in January, so I think Im going to wait for that. Heres a link to their website.

http://sternwheels.com/

As far as looks go, heres my opinion..

ST-11 > HPR5 > Profil

Can't go wrong with any one of them. Personally I like the HPR5 chromes the best.

How do you go about getting a set for $700 or a the chromes for $1100?

slayer those are some good lookin wheels that stern makes. Theres about 4 or 5 designs i wouldnt mind having. Did they give you a price on a set of those chrome 19s? do you think theyd be priced around $1100 for a set of chrome 18s?

That sucks about the chromes. I shoulda known since no one had any of em on their fbods. I think the ST11 looks more like the profil than the hp5, kinda like a flattened star. I think i still like the HPR5 the most so far but i need to see more pics/opinions.

Louie you can grab a set of 18x9 silver/black/grey HPR5s on ebay, wheelguyz, wheelsnext.com, or exclusiveparts.com for ~$700/set. The privat profils can be had at discount tire, ebay, jdwheels.com, and nationaltirewholesale.com for ~$700-750.

I didnt get a price out of them, but I would imagine thats the price range they will be in compared to their other wheels. They dont sell to the public, so you would have to order through one of their vendors. Theres a list at the bottom of their page. I would try and talk to one of their vendors and see if you can get a price out of them. Keep us updated!

Im not sure how to describe it, but I thing the HPR5 looks "sharper" Probably has something to do with the lines in the center of the spokes. The lip is a little deeper on the HPR5 also. On the 19s the HPR5 has a 3.5" lip

Im pretty sure 18" is the biggest size that the drag radials are made in. If your looking for traction, you may want to stay away from a 19" wheel, because your tire is not going to have much of a side wall. I dont have any pics, but im pretty sure the HPR5 has the same lip as the EVOs. It may be easier to find a pic of the 19" EVOs, and you can get an idea of what the lip is going to look like.

those are 19s on that silver car. Looks a little big IMHO. side views are always so hard to judge cuz they just dont look right, either too big or too small.

yea profil come a little bigger i think - 18x9.5 versus only 9" on the HPR5s. And yes the stagger set is 18x9.5 rear and 18x8.5 front i believe. I mean you dont "need" those sizes but thats what theyll usually bundle as the stagger set. Id just go for 18x9.5 all around, theyre likely the same price. And 275 tires arent much more (if any) than 255s for a 8.5" rim if thats where your gettin at.
