Default How are the 555R's in rain?

Hey guys, just wondering how the Nitto 555R's are in rain? I'm looking at getting the 315's and I won't drive them in the rain that much, I just don't want to get them and they suck when it's wet.

Good, that's what I was hoping for. I just wanted to make sure they were decent because I might have to drive it every once in a while in the rain.

Agreed, keep it under 60mph and you'll be fine.

My car did fine with the 275's but now it doesn't like rain at all with the 315"s.

i had no problems the 315 555r in the rain until the tread depth went to about 3/32"--then at 55mph they would lift up and hydroplane while raining good-- which scared the living sh#% out me. i ran 25 psi in them daily driving.

My nitto's suck on the track. No better than my street tires. If I had it to do over I would get BFG's, or ET streets for the track.

not true. I'm on my 2nd set of 555r's and their great in the rain.... when they have tread left. I go under 70 on wet roads and i've never had hydroplaning issues. Just dont accelerate hard, keep it steady.

If you have to have DR's on a daily, 555r's are your best choice. theres no other DR's out there that do better in the rain.

with 275 nittos and about 310 rwhp on an LT1 car, they were GREAT in the rain. i was more confident with those than i was with the goodyears that were on there before. its almost like they wipe the water out of their way to find the pavement to stay hooked. no issues at all with them. just bought a new set for my LS1 car 2 weeks ago.

I never had a problem with the 555Rs in the rain, however the same cannot be said for the Sumitomo's that are on the car now.

i have now had a chance to drive these tirtes in the rain i have had no problems. they actually grip better than the street tires i had on before. i heard a lot of complaints about them before i bought em and i decided to go with them anyway. im glad i did because my experience with these tires has been nothing but an enjoyable one.

+1 for 555r's being good in the rain. As long as you have ok tread depth you'll be fine.

Exactly, you have to have the tread depth. Any tire with no tread left will suck in the rain.
