Your logic is somewhat flawed because you left out one factor......contact patch. And if I wanted to get max hookage I'm well aware of what a full slick can do. We are looking for max traction on a street tire with a relatively stiff sidewall. In this case the more rubber you have on the road the better.
u r only partialy correct. contact patch helps u in cornering. a wider tire is not going to make u hook any better in a straight line.

ANY better? Before you said the gains would be marginal. Poke, poke. LOL!! Marginal gains are correct and that's what I want. The 275/40/17 MT ET Drag radials hook pretty well but the sidewall gives a little too much. If I can find a 315 or so that hooks as well with a little stiffer sidewall then I'd be all over it.

It's painted, you can't powder coat fiberglass, anyway its painted with duplicolor low-gloss black high heat engine paint.

I got the inserts from dragonz28 here (muffinbuster on ebay). Actually the pic he uses in his auction is my car.

I went with the 315 BFG's just like Lethal on my LT1. The rims are 17X11 ZR1's with 50mm offset which is perfectly centered. I could barely fit a finger between the tire and the inside wheel well so I did a little banging just as a precaution. There is no way I could fit a 335 without looking ridiculous. I like these a lot. They don't hold first gear but I don't think any tire would. They hold second pretty well and the BFG DR's don't turn to mush on the freeway like the MT DR's. Gotta love the wide "steam rollers".

Thanks, I got the car back and took some more rear shots. I also did a new interior so when I get back after next week I'll put up a post with the ride, the 335s, and new interior and seats.
