Steve, I don't think you and Bogart get it. Most of us want a reasonably priced drag wheel, hear less than $200, that can be driven on the street without fear of failure. A little heavier than you current wheels would be fine. Most of us go to the track 4-6 times a year so these would not be primary wheels, since they would have ET Streets or slicks on them. To us spending over $800 for wheels and $400 for tires that are seldom used is money that could be spent on other mods. You know how many guys have ground their calipers and bought Prostars, etc. That business could have all been Bogarts and still can if they woud wise up and offer a moderately priced wheel. The vast majority of us guys just want a decent looking, not spectacular, product that we can take to the races. I for one will NEVER I mean NEVER consider spending $400 for a wheel. Give me something under $200 and I and many other will beat a path to your door. I'm 60 years old and I learned along time ago as a manufacturer that I'm much better off selling 10,000 units at $200 than a 1,000 units at $400 for instance.

Personally, I want the drag wheels for a low cost way to run a 15" tire and get a better sidewall more than the weight savings. However, with that being said, Many people on here do not run stock wheels. Weight savings as compared to aftermarket wheels is much greater and IMHO the extra few pounds of a centerline or weld wheel is minimal when balanced with the cost.

I'd love to pick up a set of Bogarts but in all honesty when I can pick up a set of centerlines WITH tires for the price of Bogart wheels alone i'm gonna have to side with the whole setup. Especially since i'm not after an all out race setup, the cost outweighs the gain.

I think I've finally seen the light as to why Bogart does not produce a slightly heavier moderately priced street worthy wheel. SJM has repeatedly , ad nauseum, stated their wheels are not street legal. However he also states that many guys do in fact run them on the street. Maybe, and I don't know why Bogart would not admit it, the cost and hassle of DOT approval is not worth it.

Don't pollute this thread.

15x10's are ideal, I know that. I have run since 1998:

Stock - 23 lbs
Draglite XP 16x8; 16x9 - 22 lbs
Draglite 15x10 - 13 lbs
Pro Star 15x10 - 14 lbs
Bogart RT10 15x9.75 (current) - not sure, I think 14 lbs

I'm not going to be negative about what wheels are currently available, but there is a huge segment of folks who want to spend $800-1000 for a set of rims, not $1300-1500.

The custom wheel has been ordered and JNorris should have it pretty soon. Lets see what happens.

I also happen to like the way that Convo Pros look but who knows if this custom wheel will fit decent.

Steve,

You really need to calm down.
We all know how great Bogart wheels are as well as all the benefits they offer. Just the same there are a good bit of people who either cannot afford or who do not want to spend $400 for per wheel or in my case I just simply prefer the look of the Convo Pro wheels.

Please do not come in this thread and make it Bogart vs wheel “X”.

Thanks

John

Way late to this poll here. The cost of wheels period for 4th gens is just unreal. Then add on top of that the cost for the tires. $1000 + for aftermarket wheels (without tires).. $1000 + for drag wheels (with tires). I could have choosen a wheel with less grinding. But IMO the Telstars are by far the best.. Make a Telstar that fits and heck yes I would buy a new set. If they made it in the Convo Pro wheel I would think about it. The Telstars with tires on my car cost $600.

Shon if you are making a joke it's not that funny.

Centerline said 3 weeks from time of order. Should be pretty soon. Maybe another week but I have not kept track. We have been dealing with a family member of the family that owns Centerline.

SJM, I understand, but we already know all about wheel sizes, I did suggest 15x10 but it was not doable based on what they currently make. This is not a __ vs Bogart vs ___ vs ____ thread whatsoever... Our scene could really use one more wheel company that makes a rear wheel that fits without grinding that is not $400 a piece.

This thread started 5 months ago
It is obvious that the companies you have tried to contact, Weld/Centerline/etc are not in the market for F-body business. It is a dead market at the moment, no more are being produced. IF ANY of these wheel companies wanted this business it would not have taken them over 10 years to get into it. The XP's flopped b/c they were just as heavy as the stockers. They do not want to put the R&D money into a wheel for a car market that is shrinking daily. And if they did want the market, why not make a wheel that the market wants, not just one they are trying to make fit.
Once put together they will sale some, no doubt but it will not be exactly what is needed or wanted.

I hope the power and influence of LS1tech/PSJ/etc is able to make this happen. (but currently it would appear to be a band aid )

I'd just like a set of warriors or convo pros (warriors preferred) that won't tear up my fender lips when I launch.

Shon if this new Convo Pro fits voila we have new 15x9 (or so) Centerline drag wheel. If it hits a little bit, we will see what needs to be done. If it's way off that would be a problem. JNorris is seems to think it will fit but we'll see, we have been using his car for the comparison.

Actually Dave here has done the best job of talking to Weld lately...

The 8.5's do NOT fit properly, they stick out past the fenderwell and will contact the fender lip if you don't have them rolled. If it is a 15x9 with more backspacing, it will tuck better and thus fit better.

I have to get admin to restore this thread

SJM - Steve, don't post in this thread anymore. I don't have the time to prune this thread, and Centerline and us are using it for data.

Tell Centerline to crap or get off the pot, this thread is 5 months old now and there is a 92% approval rating already

Might just close it down, enough data is recorded to substantiate making wheels that fit.

BTW, PM me a price on your Bogarts, never liked the way Convo's looked with their lumpy outer rim style. I like their Telstars MUCH better, they look like Fikse FM5s. Wish those would fit our cars.

In any case, the thread is restored.

We'll be looking forward to any more responses to the poll, and JNorris' info and pics when he test fits the wheel.

If this one fits, I would think that Telstars and Warriors could be adapted too, but we'll know soon.
