I have them on my wifes GTP and they are a great driving tire. They do no hook very well though IMO. But we are talking about 2 different cars also.

I've never owned a set but.... I would think that there are tires that will do the same (or better) for much less money. F1 GS D3's come to mind (which I do own a set of)

They are an EXCELLENT tire. They would be on the top of my list if I was looking for a new set of street tires.

I will second that they dont hook for a ****, but the tread wear isnt all that bad, and they are a smooth riding tire.

Best high performance street tire out there.

I run 295/35/18 Pilot Sports. The Pilot Sport 2s are great also (PS2s).

They handle amazing, are excellent in the rain (for an all out performance tire), and have a decent treadwear rating.

I will have another set for my next iForged wheels. I'm also going to run a set of Pilot Sport Cups on my extra set of iForged wheels.

You can't beat a Michelin tire. They balance up mint, and are really #1 in terms of quality.

all true, but at the same time, i cant get ANY traction at all, i mean i have to go 1/2 throttle in 1st to avoid lighting them up

In my experience the KD has much better dry traction than the Pilot sport and the GSD3 has better dry traction and way better wet traction than the Pilot sports. Yes, they are a quality tire but depending on what you want there are better and cheaper.

the Pilot Sports or the PS2's?? The PS2's are supposed to be quite a bit better than the original Pilot Sports.

IMO the KDs don't hold a candle to the Pilot Sports. And the GSD3s aren't even close to the KDs.

Neither in wet/dry handling. And FWIW, I'm not a fan of the GSD3s. They are a good tire, for the cheaper price. I'll leave it at that.

If I weren't running Pilot Sports, I'd have Gforce KDs. But the PS tire is better than the KDs IMO, and the PS2 is even better!

I'm not a Michelin rep. by any means. But I deal with tires every day. I've come to know what's what.

Very grippy tire, however, they wear fast and are expensive.

by far the best tire for highspeed and cornering. Only tire i trust on my car when doing triple digits on a 30mph off ramp.

that's good to hear, as I currently have KD's and I love them, but they were not offered in the size I needed with my new rims. I am a fan of precise steering response and have bought and sold a set of Toyo T1-S's and Yoko ES-100's because they had too soft of a sidewall which made the car feel like it was on marshmellows.

How is the steering response with the PS2's??

There's really not much noticable difference IMO of steering response (PS v. PS2). Steering response is instant. What I admire, is that even with the 275 tire up front, they track the road EXCELLENT! Yokohamas are all over the place. If you've run them, you know exactly what I mean. I hate those tires with a passion..

What you get is a better all around tire, in all types of weather. Sidewall stiffness is roughly the same.

I haven't run the PS2s on the back of my own personal car. So I'm not sure what the difference is traction wise between the two Michelin tires.

People say they don't get much life out of the Pilot sports. I have 15k on mine, of HARD driving. These will be good for at least two more seasons for me, and I still won't be down to the wear bars.

At the intial purchase of my wheels, it was a toss up between the KDs, and the PS. The manager at Townfair ended up matching Tire Racks sale price on the PS fronts, so I went ahead with them. Couldn't be happier, but both are excellent tires.

I've used all 3 tires (PS not PS2) and I'll stand by what I said. The GS-D3 is 1000 times better than the KD in the rain. It doesn't sound like you've actually used them. The KD has a bit better dry traction than the D3. As for the PS. Both the above tires had better straight line traction although the PS had better wet traction than the KD. The D3 blows both of them away in wet traction though. I've never used a tire like it in the rain. As for tracking, sidewall flex, etc. The PS and and KD were about the same with the D3 slightly below them.

I could really care less about how they are in the rain, as I don't drive my Hawk in the rain. My sole concern when it comes to tires for my Hawk is responsiveness and high speed stability. I don't really care about straight line traction either, just as long as they hang on in the corners and actually still have "crispness" in a corner. I have bought tires that were referred to me before as a "awesome tire" and turned out that they did hook very well, but didn't have the crispness or responsiveness that I prefer. They actually felt like I was riding on a set of marshmellows (escpecially the Toyo T1-S's I had....they hooked EXTREMELY well, but lacked any kind of crisp and precise steering response).
This is the main reason why I am putting a 265/35/18 tire on a 9.5" wide rim in front and a 295/30/18 tire on a 10.5" wide rim on the rear. I wanted to stretch the tire out a bit on front to increase the sidewall rigidity and a 30 series tire on back to decrease the sidewall for less sidewall flex.

My current KD's are the best tire I have had so far for what I look for in a tire, hopefully I will like my PS2's just as much. I just wish they were more of a "dry only" tire like the KD's, then I'm sure they would really kick butt in the dry.

I have never used the D3, but I just have that gut feeling that they would have too soft of a sidewall for my liking, but I'm sure they do hook pretty good.

I live in central Ohio and bought Pilot Sports A/S high performance as the TA is the only car I have. They handle well in the rain and have driven in about 3inches of snow and didn't lose traction. Tread still looks new, but I don't light them up and drive too hard.
