Recommend 275/40/17 street tires?
I'm getting chrome C6's in about a month. I wont run drag radials but I am undecided on what street tires I will get. They will surely see some rain as well.
It seems like when I read tire reviews there are always people that complain of horrible road noise or the tires only lasted 12k. Then other people say they love the tires, quiet and have 35k on them. Mixed bag of cars and driving styles I guess.
I've got Yoko avs es 100's on my stock 16's. I like these tires ALOT and they are fairly cheap. My only complaint is they get a little darty over multiple bumps.
It's hard finding a good tire, some people rave over one tire that a manufacturer offers but then say that a similar tire by the same company isn't worth a damn.
Anyway, I'm thinking about es 100's, BFG KDW's, or regular Nitto 555's. Please recommend any one of these, or something you think is better. I want to keep cost below $150 per tire. Thanks.

I have the Fuzion ZRi's and like them very much for a daily driving tire. Ride smooth and fairly quiet...depends on the road. I dont use them for racing, thats what my drag radials are for . I especially like the rim guard on them...no fear of curb rash!! plus they are around $112 per tire. If you want more of a performance tire....street/strip, the KDW might be your best bet.

Another vote for the BFGoodrich KDWS. It's an all season tire, so it won't get you as much performance as a 'summer' tire that simply offers dry/rain handling but it grips well on acceleration and cornering, rides smooth & quiet, treadwear was even and long life, and they were pretty easy on the wallet. What more do you want?

no KDWS unless you need snow traction, otherwise they dont do nuffin. I just bought a set of g-force KDW 2's. Sounds like for water and dry they are a dominate tire. Search the threads here, find alot of info, thats where I made my decision. I have BFG KDWS right now and I dont like them at all. My .02

i have KDW's right now. they handle really well for spirited driving, and i've had no hydroplaning in the 3 times that they've seen rain. a little too much of the go pedal still lights them up pretty easily. i only put down 354rwhp and if i floor it anywhere in 1st gear, they light up.
i haven't had any other tires on this car, so i dont have a frame of reference to compare on the high throttle traction, so if anyone would like to chime in, that would be great.

Damn. I have 418whp and my Sumitomo HTRZ II's don't do too badly, I thought the KDW's would be far better? Damn. I'm in the same boat as this guy. I might just go for the Firestone Wide Ovals, @ $146/tire if the issues i'm having sill be the same w/ KDW

Firestone Wide Ovals, 265/40/17 on the front, 285/40/17 on the rear. Great tire, excellent traction for a street tire, quiet on the highway, drives very well in wet weather. 275/40/17's are available.
