not true. if you chose correct tires, 17's and 18's should have the same overall diameter, so that leaves weight as the only issue of "slowing down"... if you read the common wheel weights sticky, a 17x11 TT2 weighs in at 27lbs without a tire, while a 18x9.5 Y2K weighs 20lbs. while the front 17x9.5 TT2 weighs 24lbs, and a 17x8.5 Y2k weighs 18.
tt2 total weight without tires: 102lbs
Y2k total weight without tires: 78lbs
you can see where im going with this.

Less sidewall=less traction. This is why you use 15" Prostars at the track. My 17" Firehawk rims weigh noticably more than my stock 16"s did and it did affect the performance in certain ways. 18"s would be, well, even heavier.

why not keep your stock wheels for the track, and get 18's for the street? i plan on getting y2k's, like i said they are ALOT lighter than most street 17's you see, like zo6's, tt2's, or zr1's...
i was going with tt2's, like everybody else, and people were telling me they felt a very noticable difference in the handling/braking after putting on tt2's, simply because of their weight.
