well my rims arent entirely black, they're blacked out on the inside and aluminum on the face of the spokes. i would post pics but i dont have a camera. i use blue coral wheel celaner, but i water it down cause i dont want it to strip the paint on the rims. today i used this stuff called blue magic wheel polish man this stuff is awesome, my rims look brand spanking new, i only did the two front ones the heat was killing and i gotta be at work in a couple of hours, anyways if you're looking for a good wheel polish try this stuff

Dont use any very abrasive polish on any painted surface on your wheels. Eventually it will take more and more polishing to get them to shine because you are dulling the finish by taking layers of paint away. After doing it alot, you will begin cut right through the paint on the edges.

you might aslo consider trying out Klasse AIO, for two reasons 1. carauba based waxes begain to melt at around 100 deg. what do you think will happen when red hot break dust get on it? 2. AIO will shine up your paint as well and the metal (well at least it does on chrome never tried it on alum ) lasts atleast a month and has great cleaning properties for when the soap and water wont cut it, so you would'nt need the damaging rim cleaner.

guess it dependes on the wheel cleaner, some are worse than others IE acidic (sp) based cleaners. I can't image any of them being good for painted wheels in the long run.though You might get away with it when you need to deep them. klasse All In One can be found at most detailing stores. I order mine through autogeek.com as they ship to APOs and they are fairly quick and reliable.
