Default Anyone shipped wheels?

Here's the deal, I have had a set of 17" TT2's kicking around for a while with rubber. I took my car in a different direction, decided to go 18's, and needed to get my $$ out of the TT2's so I sold them on Ebay. I was leaning towards shipping them Greyhound because I figured it would be way cheaper for such a heavy bulky item. Well I wanted to time buying new ones with selling the old ones so I didn't spend the money, and would have perfect boxes/packing supplies ready to just reuse. Shopping around for rims, shipping was waaay cheaper than I expected. DTD includes it, and TomZ and some other places only charged about $75. I figured for 4 wheels/tires I'd easily be roaring north of $100. Is it fair to say UPS/FedEX could probably do it same side of the Mississippi ~$75 or do the places that charge it take a hit on the real cost and factor the rest into their prices? I was trying to find estimates, but don't have a good scale and I'm not sure how much tires + air add to the weight of the rim. Thanks.

I shipped a set of convos via ups, two 15x8 with 26" nittos and two 15x4 skinnies with tires for 125.

Take the air out of the tires, it makes the package lighter, and therefore cheaper to send.

I shipped a set of wheels through a UPS store, 17" BMW wheels, and it cost about $130 if I remember right. I just brought the wheels in and they were going to package them for shipping.

I shipped wheels and tires through UPS store also. I put cardboard on the face and back of the wheel and tire and then wrapped them extremely well with stretch wrap. Shipped them for about 35 each.

I just got a quote through the UPS store for shipping 4 16x8 wheels (19.5lbs ea). It was ~$40 per pair (when packaged 2 in a box) and if I had them pack them it would be $23 to package each box. So ~$80 to ship or ~$126 if they pack them up and ship.

You could just pack them yourself and the just slap it on the scale they got there and they can quote you out, other wise

$140 for 4 rims from Ohio to Washington State, Fedex packaged them and I bought insurance. UPS was going to charge $160 for the same. 21lbs per box incl. box weight.
