Default How well do Nitto NT555Rs work for handling?

Hi all, I'm looking at putting Nitto NT555Rs on all four corners (275/40-17s front 315/35-17s rear) in a C4 Vette. The Vette has a 396 that pushes about 450rwhp and that much torque through a high stalled (4000/2.2 STR) A4. It will see very little track but will mostly be a good weather car that I'll probably commute to work with at least once a week. But, I want the car to handle well also (it is a Vetter after all), but I'm having difficulties finding much in that size range. I wish the 555R2s were in that size, but oh well.

Will the 555Rs handle well enough for me to take corners like I should be able to? Would I be better off with BFG KDs? The problem with the KDs is that I'd like to be able to actually accelerate from a stop, especially if I need to get on it coming from a side road onto the highway when there is traffic (I live off a very busy road with no stoplight, so eh). What good is the power if I have to feather it so I don't spin out of control as I try to turn onto the road while a Semi bears down on me? In cases like that, the car needs to hook and go.

Suggestions?

why not do the nittos on the rear with the bfg kds on the front... thats what most people do... personally on the street i run bfg kdw 2's (they are the best hooking street tire ive had) all around and and have a set of et streets im putting on some stock rims. but youd be better off with some dr's in the rear

Mainly grip is why I don't want to run regular tires up front. The Nittos grip better than a conventional tire, even if the sidewall flexes. That'll make the car will push through corners as the front end slides.

But, I wonder how bad it would be if all four tires had sidewall flex?

I run the RIIs on the rear, and regular extremes on the front and it handles GREAT!! (Just got back from a great trip to the NC mountains) The R2s sidewall doesn't flex!
