Can I go an inch wider in tire diameter?
I'm buying winter tires for my car and am looking at the Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice. The guy at the goodyear store has 215-60R16s right now, however I'm thinking I might like the 225-60/R16s. The difference is an entire inch in sidewall diameter, aside from the tread width. The 215s being about 25.6 in. in diameter and the 225s are about 26.6 in. Will this fit in a 2000 Camaro fender without rubbing? The tire guy was worried about it, but I have no experience with it.
He did say he would be willing to mount a 225-60 tire he has in stock to see if it will rub or not, so I can do that later too.
Any comments?

it will work just fine....I have those exact tires for winter on my car in the 225/60/16 size. It makes your speedo off by about 3mph but thats no big deal.
It comes within an 1/4 inch of rubbing on the plastic inside the fender well when the wheel is turned to a certain angle, but as long as you are not lowered they will work.
BTW good choice of winter tire, they work awesome.

Alright, they mounted one up at the shop (225-60) and it had about a half inch clearance with the wheel turned, a little more with them straight. This should be enough? Will I have to worry about ice and crap packing in the well? I would imagine not, I just knock it out if it builds up.
With the ABS deal... The way I understand it, I need to have the same size tires on all four wheels, correct? Or it will throw the ABS for a loop? I WAS thinking the 215s up front and the 225s in the back, but with the ABS, that might not be a good idea then.
Anyone else care to comment? I appreciate the help!

you have to do the 225's all around, dont mix them, or it will throw the abs. plus you can rotate the tires from front to rear which will help make them last longer.
and I never had any issues with snow packing in the wheel wells being it does that on any car, and the tire just melts it away anyways if there were snow in there.

if you have 245 in the front and 275 in the rear it throws the abs off? or that little bit doesnt matter?
ive been hearing 18" in the rear and 17" in the front doesnt hurt the abs.
