I tried to search but searching numbers isnt easy..............

I know 245/50-16s are stock but I can get a good deal on 245/45-16s

How will these work on the front of a 98 Firebird??

I am assuming fine but want to double check before I foot the $$$

Its just that I can get a good deal on some tires but they are 45s

I am assuming the difference wont even be visually noticable unless you are looking for it

245/45/16 is going run about 1" shorter than 245/50/16. I wouldn't do it unless you're a fan of large fender gaps...

I have some on my 98 formula. Depending on the tire they may be harder to install on the rim. They had to put 100 psi in my specific tire to make em sit on the rim properly (then put em back to norm after it pops/seats). If your car is lowered it wont look bad as far as big gaps. Might look bad on a non lowered car though. Traction won't be as good due to less sidewall flex but you will be able to take corners better (depending on tire)

Well hes saying hes gonnna put it on the FRONT of his 98 firebird. That wont throw off the speedo. However, if you have ABS, it may present a problem. I dont know for sure. Does anyone else have tires that are 1" in diamter different? They can answer that question.

And I think it will be a noticeable difference. Your wheel gap is going to be a half inch larger up front. If youre gonna get those tires, I would do it all around and lower it.

You are correct ABS will be upset, and in a panic not work properly.

You'll have a 1" shorter tire and 0.5" more fender gap. I don't see how you couldn't notice that. IMHO, just spend a few extra $ and get the 245/50/16 or save your $$ and pick up some 17's.
