I have the HTRZ II and so far have no complaints with the tire. From what i reckon they look to be a lot better than the regular HTRZ. But it is my dd, and blowing money on some awesome street tires is just a waste of cash.

How would the 315's hook on a stock ride height and horspower?

i would stay away from these tires if at all possible.my car is not a dd.and i only got 3000 miles out of them.thats with out doing any burnouts.i was all over the road. i bought them for the same reason price.but you get what you pay for.i would spend a little more money and upgrade to a better tire.

I don't like mine. 275's all around and they don't hook at all, the car is a daily driver but I love driving aggressively sometimes and these tires are no good for that. I will be spending the extra money on some D3's or something similar.

A guy I know here in Cary NC bought 275/40/17 Sumitomo HTR-Z II's for $85 each, I believe from NTB. Not a bad looking tire, especially for no money. These General's are actually great tires http://www.treadepot.com/proddetail.html

Here are the Sumis http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=1

3000 miles? That doesn't sound right at all, are you sure?

link doesn't work, but are you referring to the exclaim UHP's? A lot of people liked it on tirerack (though there are some comments about a very flexy sidewall) I was considering these for my SS wheels. My camaro is a semi-daily driver, not a track car or autox'er.

Sumitomo HTRZ's are AWESOME.......

If you don't like traction, a burnout tire for sure I supose they are okay for a DD or if you just want the wide look, but those benefits don't outweigh the fact that you will have no traction,.... no traction.

I want traction

Well, quite a few love the Sumi's on Tirerack as well. I love my General Exclaim UHPs on my wifes Mazda6 wagon. The sidewalls were good by my standards, and I'm a picky fruitcake. I wish they made them in the 245/50/16, I would not still be looking. I can get the Sumitomo HTRz II"s for $68 each in my size. The BFG Gforce sports would run me $94 each. I guess $130 difference in 4 tires might not be worth the gamble as I know the Gforce sports are great.

I dunno if anyone here bought the General UHP's in 275/40R17. I did a quick search on Camaro SS's and noone wrote a review for them. GTO's yes, however that's a bit heavier car. I'm gonna make a post about it sooner or later.

I have the 275/ 315 sumi combo on some TT2's. I think they are pretty damn good. My buddy has the GSD3's on his z28 and hates them. I have more traction with these then he does. And he drives like a grandma. I constantly push my car in the mountain passes by the house on a weekly basis, and the car has not tried to come around no matter how hard i push it. I use this tire everyday, and i commute down the hwy to work 13miles each way. The wind out here is hellacious, and i still haven't had the problems the others have on the hwy.

Well a little update. I have the HTRZ II and they are pretty damn good so far. Just took them in the rain today and had no issues, but I didn't try to push it. As far as dry traction goes, it's decent. They may not compare to KDW or GSD3 but they work fine for stock power.

I think I may have found some Kumho 711's, the old ones I used to run. They were decent, but they're $69 just like the Sumitomos and they're a H rated tire. The only other cheap alternative is the Falken ZE512 "W" rated ones. They seem to be a soft tire, at least the H rated ones I've handled had mush for sidewalls.

No more 711's. If I don't get G-Force sports I will most likely be getting a tire I just found and have read positive comments on, the Riken Raptor ZR. I like the look better than the HTRZ II's and they're even cheaper through my friend. Steeda's employees run the 17"s on their track cars.
