Do what I did and get 315 sumitomos in the back just because they look cool and but a pair of MT DRs on stock 16" wheels for when you want to go fast.

If you're going to go with a winter only wheel and tire combo, then go for a winter tire. Frankly, all-seasons are complete crap when compared to a good winter tire, and because you only use them 3-4 months out of the year, a set of tires will easily last you 4-5 years, if not longer depending on how often you drive the car in the winter.

This is a DD tire ?? Then get the cheaper Sumitomo, I've had those and I currently have the expensive Goodyears in 315-35-17....

keep in mind:
The damage done by nails or screws is directly proportional to the value of your tires !!!

Get some slicks for the track if you want traction. The Sumitomos are good enough for street driving.

Disclaimer: I hated my HTRZ Sumitomos on the front - steering wheel was pulling all over the road, way better with the goodyears (275-40)

At one time, GS-D3's were the only thing I'd ever put on my car, however, after you go over 380 RWHP in an A4 or roughly 410 RWHP in a M6, you'll only break them loose in first gear and spin through 2nd. Anytime you achieve this kind of power level, with any kind of torque, you just about have to have DR's ... IMHO.

ive actually heard good things about the sumis. check out the review section on tire rack. several people have f-bodies with 315 rears, and they rant and rave about the sumis, saying theyre even good on a track.......road course that is. i think theyre they tire im getting to go on my new ZR1s. anyone have any thought as to mixing tires....like sumi rear (for the size and price) and maybe Falken 615s front (for traction)?

well thats not the tires fault

with 50% tread or more nittos arent bad in the rain.. of course they arent a gsd3 or any other tire mentioned but if you dont drive like an *** youre fine. i had the 305/35/18s. they did not run small.

but if you DD the car and dont feel like posting this thread in a couple months when you need tires again, go with a regular summer tire.

Hey, Wolfy... what do you think of the treadwear on those so far? Can you estimate how many DD miles they'll be worth?

Thanks...

lol dude dont listen to these guys. it seems like most thread replys always fall this way. we ask a question and we say we are on a budget but, people miss that and tell you to go with one of the most expensive options. i for one, dont want to be in cc debt up to my neck so, i try to read alot and save money. as for tires... go with the sumitomos. im on my second pair and really can not complain. they are not sticky tires by any means but if its a dd you dont need sticky tires. they are decent in the rain and grab decently when braking. oh and for how much you would pay for a set of goodyears or bfg's you could buy three sets of sumi's.

if you are pushing your car to the extent that you need a sticky tire then youre not dd ing your car.
