Default "Max PSI 51" vs "Do not inflate past 40 PSI"?

So ever since I bought the car I've wondered how much I should inflate my tires. I have 245/40ZR18 tires on the front and back. I see printed on the sides of them they say that the max psi is 51 but then on another section of the tire it'll say to not inflate past 40.

So if I'm just filling up the tires in my daily driver, how much should I inflate them?

it says do not inflate over 40psi while seating beads. max psi is 51 psi but dont even consider running that. run 30-32 psi when the tires are cold and 34-36 psi warm. btw this is assuming u r talking about an fbody. look in ur door jam and it will tell u how much air to run.

I am talking about an F-BODY, but since these are not the same size as stock tires, wouldn't the inflation pressure be different?

Nope. Most people still run 30-32. If your doing 100mph constant you might want 35(Even says this in your manual). Remember while driving the tires get hotter and psi goes up.
