They'd look horrible if he's talking about the pre 91 style of rims (91 was the 1st year for that style showin in the pics on the 1st page).
They'd definately look like "80s wheels" if he went with them...
84-87 style
88-90 style

yeah, i want the earlier ones... im quite fond of 16" and i want wider wheels on my car; im gonna paint them flat black anyways, plus i want some meatier tires.
edit: inspiration pic...
i know these are zr1's most likely 17x11, but i love how mean and wide they look in the rear and i figure even though the wheels im looking at are only 16x9.5, i can create somewhat of the same effect on a bit smaller scale cause i honestly dont care about the face of the rim. i also have 1" spacers cause im a little thrown off still on corvette offsets so those can help me if i need to.

I think they would look OK (especially in black), kinda like the discs that the old IMSA GT road race cars put in their BBS wheels for aero/brake cooling purposes.

well i ended up buying them today for $150, turns out they are 16x8.5 all the way around but thats fine cause i can rotate them, also came with 255/55/16 tires so im pretty happy about that, theyre pretty meaty. i only put two on and was going to a movie so i got lazy and am gonna put the other two on in the morning so ill take pics then.
