Default Opinions on Potenza RE-01R tires?

For those who've tried this tire, what are your impressions? My priority is dry traction, not so concerned with wet. It's either these or Goodyear F1 GS-D3's. Any input welcome!

What sizes are you planning to run?? Bridgestone does not make the 01R in our standard sizes.

Sorry for the confusion - I don't have the Formula anymore. I'll be using 255/35-18's (rear) and 225/40-18 in front. Tires being used by many types of cars though, was looking for some impressions here.

My dad is running these tires on his BMW M3, he says that they are the best tires he has ever run on the car, and he has run some really nice tires... I recently took his car up to the mountain in our area and ripped on the car for an entire day, the tires always stuck and still have lots of tread after about 20,000 hard driving miles...

Yes, it is the hot new tire to have in SCCA Street Touring/Street Mod classes where "R" compounds are verboten. I've heard that it outperforms (by a decent margin) the Falken 615 ("last year's" hot donut, and a great tire in it's own right, especially for the $$$). If they make your size, and you don't have to drive them in the cold/winter, I say go for it!!

Why not go with drag radials if your priority is dry traction?

Even though I've seen stranger things than that on a street driven Merc, I think he's going for overall handling/braking/acceleration with his tire choice.

Good point there. I just went by his screen name. But you are right he has a Benz. Which now makes me say Michelin PS2's.

Yup, you hit the nail on the head - had Nitto DR's as daily driver on the ex Formula, but wanted something a bit more capable in other areas for the current car. So I went ahead and orderd the RE-01R's - hope to have them on this week.

Thanks everyone for the input!
