Default Wheel Spacer Question

I have a 1999 Trans Am and am wanting to add some wheel spacers to give it more of a beefy look. It has the factory 16” rims with 245/50/16 tires. I was wanting to buy a bolt on spacer of 1.5”, but want to verify if this will cause any issues by pushing the wheel out past the fender. If so, what is the recomended wheel spacer size to use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

1.5" inches is crazy! Even the smallest ones make a subtle difference. I run 5/8" rear and 1/2" front. I'm on 17" WS6's or 18" z06's though. It took several different sizes to get the look I wanted. ARP studs as well.

Thanks for the response. What I am trying to do is have the wheel line up flush with the body. I measured from the wheel center to the outer edge of the fender and it was 1.5". That is how I cam up with that number.

Well, if you're lowered, you will hit the fenders over bumps. Mine rub a bit over harsh bumps and slightly cut the tires on the passenger side. I think you trying to go too agressive on the stance at one time. Like I said, I tried many different sizes. First 1/4", 5/16", then 3/8" all around, then 1/2" on back, and finally 1/2" on front and 5/8" rear. Also keep in mind, I sling water, rocks, and dirt all over my fenders and the sides of the car due to the agressive stance.

Other things to consider, fender rub during tight turning, and a change in handling due to increasing your wheelbase by 3 inches.

Welcome to the forum as well, there's a shitload of good info. Buy right the first time, or buy twice.

Also, those thick as spacers are expensive, could be put towards some aftermarket wheels with the correct offset you're looking for. I wish I would have researched the zo6 offsets a bit more before I bought the ones I did.

Thanks once again. Those z06 wheels look wicked. You have an awesome looking TA! I have just bought my car and can't afford to buy other rims at the moment. I wanted to use the spacers as a temporary "fix" until I can afford some other wheels. Thanks again for your responses.

Well, don't know your budget, but LS1tech has a for sale section. The WS6 wheels I bought used from here.

I meant to ask you, where did you get your z06 wheels? Do you think you would still have had an issue with the wheels if your car wasn't lowered?

I can't state where I got them on the forum, but they are AFS wheels. If the car wasn't lowered with the wheels, the only issue is that the car would look like **** with too much of a fender gap. Lowering it makes all the difference.

Yeah...the wide fender gap on my car has been bothering me. I know nothing about suspension, and lowering a vehicle. I have heard that if you lower the vehicle, it makes it ride harder and lose some control. Have you found this? How did you go about lowering your vehicle?

I found and read up on the suspension lowering on this website. So just ignore the previous post. Thanks.
