it's high-grit. shouldn't kill it unless. As the person previously said, use polish. It covers the scratches.

sandpaper will work but it will leave very fine scratches. the absolute best metal polish i've ever seen is adam's.i etched my draglites with a strong batch of acid based wheel cleaner on accident.i tried mother's ,meguire's,nano polish and nothing would even make a dent in it.a local vette owner/detailer told me to try adams #2. this stuff is so easy to use you barely have to rub.it's a little pricey (20 a bottle or so) but it's well worth it.#2 followed by #1 and you got damn near chrome

I always use Mother's Billet Polish. I've wetsanded my wheels with 2000 grit paper and they turned out great. I've actually used a more course paper too but it was to correct some major problems. With water spots you don't need to wetsand the wheels. Polish the area by hand and you will honestly be better off. The power ball is fine but it's still not as good as doing it by hand. If you want something faster you can buy a buffing wheels from Home Depot or Lowes and attach it to your drill and it will get better results. I've done that and I was happy with the results

Sanding should be a last resort... When I wetsanded my wheels it was to correct some pitting that had occured. I bought my front wheels from another member and one had some serious pitting from being left out for a long period of time without being touched

I was nervous about sanding some TT2's also. But dove in and sanded all over the wheels, after I took a dremel grinding drum to some curb rash and knicks, then a dremel flap disk to smooth it out even more.... now with the sandpaper, started with 200 grit..400...600...800...wet sanded with 1000, they looked pretty bad *** at this point. After polish, they looked like they just came out of the box! In a case of just wanting those pita spots off...I might start with 800 or 1000 dry, then 1000 wet...1500 wet...2000 wet if you so choose and polish. It will make your arms sore as hell...but the finished product is worth it!
