Thought I would post my comparison of these tires.
I "upgraded" from the KDW to the GSD3 (same size 275/40ZR17). The GSD3 is a great tire but I do not see that they are better than the KDW. Straight line traction is not as good (can chirp 3rd easier) and they corner about the same (have run on same road coarse with both). Both are far better than the Eagle GS I start with but I am not seeing that these are worth the extra $$$ and plan to go back to the KDW when I need tires again. What do you guys think?

I'm a big fan of the BFG KDW. I had Eagle GS's on the '01 when I bought it. I didn't care for them at all. Switched to stock size BFG KDW's all around and I am still very happy with them. The '99 has BFG KDW's on the front and BFG drag radials on the back. When I got it it had new Kumho's on it...total junk. That's one vote for BFG...or is that two votes?

I would vote GS-D3's but I've never had BFG KDW. I currently have the 275 BFG KD on the front because i got 285 D3's. The GS-D3's however are expensive and i may go with KDW's when its time for new tires.

The GS-D3's wet performance will not fall off nearly as much as the KDW. Treadwear for all my tires... GSC, Firehawk, GS-D3 have all come in around 25-30k. The GS-D3 blows the others I have used out of the water. Road noise is low for a HPT.
The difference in price is $19 per tire.

I woulnd't expect the goodyear to be tons better. People love the goodyears, but how many have tried the kdw? Both should be good tires from a good brand and up in the higher line and not the budget tires.

Who told you the GoodYear GS-D3 would be an upgrade?
I went with them because they get 2x the mileage of BFG KD tires, and I bought them before I had the blower/tranny/converter etc. Obviously more mileage = less performance. For near stock power cars, BFG KD are an outstanding street tire. My father runs them on his c5, much quieter and better grip than my GS-D3. The GS-D3 are great for all weather performance and good mileage. If you want a good set of performance tires, get the BFG KD, not KDW. They're fine in the rain if you drive normally. You should never play in the rain anyway.

Maybe I should not have said "upgrade" but I was expecting a noticeable improvement in cornering. Now I think the BFG KD should be a step up but they are even more money. I would like to try them though. I need a tire sponsor, lol.
