you can go to gregweld.com to find more info. as of now the dragstar is a 15 inch prostar xp design with sizes from 3.5 to 14 wide. the 3.5 weigh 10.5 pounds and go for 121 polished or 235 chrome. the 8 or 10 wide go for 137 polished or 254 chromed and weigh 13 pounds for the 8 and 14.5 for the 10s. i set a picture of them next to a picture of my xp rims and they look near identical. will be calling them later to get more ordering info.

okay i just called gregweld.com and they transfered me to boyd codington who told me that the dragstars were actually built for the ls1 cars. the fronts and rears will clear the brakes even though they are 15 inch rims. also, summit racing just placed an order and will be selling them online along with tires as a package. however, they told be they are about 40 days out before the rims are done. hope that helps everyone.

^yeah LT1's have smaller brakes. You don't have to grind LT1 calipers with almost any wheel

Those of you (including me) that want 15 x 10's don't get too excited yet. I don't see the correct backspace listed (7.5) for a 15 x 10.

I noticed that also. Perhaps there will be more backspacing options available once production starts up.
At least that is what I hope..........

Yeah, it is my understanding that Gerg Weld brought Boyd Coddington Jr. with him from Weld Racing .

I rarely join forums, but I have feel that I have some useful information to add for all of you that are interested in these wheels.
I have been working with Boyd for about 9 years and am currently building a project for Taylor Weld.

a few points that I would like to make:
*Wheels should be available January 1st 2008
*Taylor Weld does Not work for Greg Weld
*Greg Weld Wheels are newly designed, as some of the wheels in the automotive industry resemble other brands, no other wheels on the market uses the proprietary alloy and process that Greg Weld Wheel does to manufacture these wheels. This is how they achieve the maximum weight savings and strength.
*Greg Weld Wheels are NHRA and IHRA legal
*AR dealers will not necessarily have access to these wheels, Greg Weld Wheel is not affiliated with AR. They do Not have a joint marketing plan of any kind. To sell GW Wheels, a dealer would have to go directly through GW Wheels.

I have been around these guys for years and am a former Weld Racing employee, I can help you with any questions that you may have.

Thanks,
Ryan Pobanz

The prototypes did fit, they are in production as we speak and no changes have been made to effect the fitments.

hmmm...I guess Cragar gave up the DragStar name?

I'm going back 20 years...
Most people here probably don't know the old "Weld" wheels started life being sold as Cragars. Something about a 5 year wait for "Weld Racing" to sell them?

Cragar Superlites eventually turned into Weld Draglites, and
Cragar DragStars eventually turned into Weld ProStars...

That was when they had those stupid o-ringed pop in center caps.

Back in the day...I ran the Superlites, then when they first came out, I remember being the first guy anywhere near me who ran "DragStars" on my 77-1/2 Z28.

I like the "new" DragStars though...they look sweet.

I didn't hand fit all sizes and backspacing, but based on the cad drawings that I saw and talking with Boyd, the clearance remains the same on all of the wheels in production.

Well thats awesome news! Do you happen to know if the MSRP is going to be comparable to the Weld Prostars in the same sizes?

Whoops just read the thread with the prices listed above...will these be fairly accurate for release prices?
