Default 18" Tire size q's

I just ordered a set of;
18x8.5 front 18x10 rear Foose Nitrous rims.

What is the widest, safest tire size I can go with front/rear?
I want to keep the height of the tire the same also front to rear.

Another q, These will be my daily driver tires so what type of tires get a decent ammount of traction w/out having a very short tred life?

Currently I am running Potenza's and they have lasted a while. I have an extra set of rear's w/555's for track use.

I would say 295/35 in rear and 285/35 in the front. I'm running 275s in the front and 285 in rear which look fine but I kinda wish now I woulda gone the other way. My wheels are the same width as yours except I got 19s in the rear. I went with Toyo tires and they have awesome traction!

I'd run a 265 in the front and 285 in the rear.

295/35/18 will fit perfect in the rear, and i would prob go with a 275/35/18 on the front... thats what i run. I dont know how a 285 would fit on a 8.5 rim, might a fairly tight squeeze.

Widest you could go is probably 275/35/18 on the front, and 305/35/18 on the back. I have 18X9 wheels up front and 18X10 in the back and this is the size I am running, and am having good results with.

One thing to keep in mind with those wide rear wheels/tires is that you'll need to pound in your wheel well a bit, and or possibly get an aftermarket adjustable panhard bar. Otherwise your tires will most likely rub the inside of your wheel well, and you'll be looking to get new tires before you even go through a few tanks of gas.

As far as the type of tire goes, it will be up to you how much traction you are willing to sacrifice for tire life. The best overall medium I think is a set of Nitto 555's. They will last quite a while, and do well in most weather situations, as well as hooking up better than most other street tires without going to a drag radial. Personally my Z in my sig has too much power to be able to hook with anything shy of a DR, so I like the Nitto DR's. My 305/35ZR18's (DR's) actually hook up in first gear without even being heated up with my 614 RWHP. I'll probably only get a year or so use out of them before I need new ones, but thats the price you pay to get traction.
