Default New winter wheels for the TA

I picked up some stock brushed aluminum Pontiac wheels this summer with the intentions of putting some winter tires on them. I put it off all summer, but when we saw some snow last week I decided it was time to go home from school for the weekend and get this done.

The wheels were really dirty and had a lot of the clear coat peeling off. First I cleaned them all with some water and steal wool. Then I sanded off the rest of the clear coat and put tape around the tires. The paint that I chose is called gunmetal, and is a silver/black with a little bit of sparkle to it. So after some primer and a few layers of the paint, thats where I am right now. I am going to wait for the paint to dry before wet sanding them, putting on a few more layers of paint, and finally putting some clear over that.

Hopefully I can finish these up and have them balanced when I go home for Thanksgiving.

I haven't seen anyone do this to stock wheels so I think it will look pretty good and unique. Hopefully the TA will look good with the black paint, black wheels, and 5% tint all around.

Here they are after a few more layers of paint and two layers of clear...

Hopefully I can get them balanced and mounted tomorrow.

was also thinking about doing the same wheel color combo for a set of stockers. i think it would look pretty slick on a black car. paint your calipers red to set it off. i'd love to see pics of that.

i think to really pull that color combo off you need to have those tires shining deep. otherwise it all looks dirty, even though it's clean. nice work.

Yup

I really like the stealth look, but the chrome wheels in the summer really set off the black.

They look better than I expected. They almost match the vents you have in.

Now that I see the finished product they dont look too bad at all. They go nice with your combo, but on a side note- thats def. not 5% tint on your side window's, looks more like 35-45%. Eitherway though, those last two pics show them off much better! Now lower that batmobile!

Thanks! Yeah, its 35% on the doors and 5% on the hatch right now, but 5% on the doors is next on my list.

I found a website that does vinyl overlays for the center caps, but the guy hasn't gotten back to me yet. I do like the contrast between the black and silver though.
