Default Question about offset

I don't know a thing about this subject. Please be gentle. I read this thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-tires/813077-widened-ws6-wheels.html

and I've been thinking about having my SS wheels widened to 11" to accomodate 315s on all four corners. I assumed that I would need spacers. However, I was wondering if stretching could alter the offsets so that spacers would not be necessary.

stretching? what do you mean?

If you want to get crazy you could Widen the rearend housing and get custom axles. that would be one expensive way to do it though... lol. spacers would be the way to go.

Yeah its on wheel widening.. in your post you said widening then said stretching afterwards implying stretching was a different process.

Stock SS wheels only allow for new material to widen the wheel to be added to the back side of the wheel . . . thus the back space and offset will change in ratio to the added material.

So spacers would definitely be needed.

Stock SS 9" wide wheel with 56 mm offset. You add 2" to the inside hoop, so overall width changes to 11", the center line of the wheel changes by half the added width, so the offset, changes 1" or 25.4mm, so the new offset of the wheel is 56 mm plus 25.4 mm which equals 81.8 mm. A 1" spacer would be needed at minimum out back, up front I have no clue.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me.
