Question Question about fitting 315's???

I wanna put on the rear of my 99 Z28, a pair of 315/35-17 with a Offset +44mm and Backspace 7.5 Inches

The rims are Torq Thrust Type M 17x10.5 for the rear only

I don't really understand this whole backspace and offset thing b/c i've never done tires and rims before.

My question is will it be a direct fit or do i have to modify the fender or fender wells??

Thanks
~George

They may stick out about 1/4 of an inch and some hammering of the inner fenders might be needed. Its hard to say if it will be a direct fit because every car is slightly different.

thanks man....i just didn't want to get involved with cutting my fenders or anything.....so you think if i just push the inner fenders back i shouldn't have a probem?? And they definately won't hit the outer fenders right??

Make sure you have adj. panhard rod and adj. control arms and it will help you not have to cut anything. If your car is lowered you will need to roll your fenders or risk cutting a tire.

No problem.

The tires shouldn't hit the outer fenders if you are at stock ride height.

Also make sure you spray some rubberized undercoating on the inner fender after you hammer it so no bare metal is showing (protects against rust). The factory undercoating will come off when you hammer it. You can get the undercoating from any auto parts store.

my 17x11 ZR1s fit pretty well, didnt have to do much. We cut the bumpstops off though. My rear end is pretty well centered though, but if its not, an adj panhard rod is a must. and adj lcas will help center the wheel in the wheel well.

I have a dead-blow hammer that worked great. Mine is a snap-on 56oz whitch may be overkill. If not familiar a dead-blow is like a rubber mallet but the head is filled with lead shot and hits like a sledge but with no paint damage.Hope this helps.
