Default help summit wheels

Is there a differance between the summit star wheels and the summit drag lites. I orederd the 15x8 summit drag lites with 5.5 back spacing and they would not fit with out alot of grinding I mean atleast a good 1/2 inch of the caliber. The drop zone on the rim was just to much. Do the star wheels look the same on the inside as the draglites. My car is a 2000 SS the rear rotors are 12",that is stock right? I see alot of people running these wheels on this site so I figure that I would mount right up. Should I send the wheels back and get the star ones or order the weld wheels please help me out here.

i'm not sure about the summit draglites, but i have the summit prostars 15x8 5.5BS, and they required very little grinding (i mean very little) the front 15x4 required a little more grinding cause i ran no spacer, its not all that bad though, all i had to grind on the back was a little piece that was sticking up off the top of the caliper, it will be a tight fit but they will work...here is a pic of my setup

I cant figure it out I called summit and they dont know ****. You dont happen to have any pics of the back of the summit star wheels do you. I cant see how they would be different. Does any body here run the summit drag lites here? or is everybody running the star ones?

have you got the tires off the wheel? its a little easier to see to try and fit the wheels that way, but i would figure they would be the same as the summit star, they are both one piece wheels, i don't have a pics of the rear wheel but what i did was when i went to fit the back wheels i put them on and turned it and all they were rubbing on was the little piece of the caliper sticking up so i grinded it off, then it cleared, i also have new drilled and slotted rotors with new pads, keep trying is all i can tell ya, i would like to see what the summit draglites look like on the car, but if all else fails you could send them back and get the stars. you have stock calipers?

The rims I got would only go on about 3/4 of the way I cant even turn them,I think the brakes are stock I got a 12" rotor.Talked to summit again and they dont know if there is a diferance between the two rims and that I would have to pay to have them shipped back to them.

as far as brake clearance Weld wheels will be way worse than the summit wheels. 3/4 of he way on sounds about right though. the Majority of the grinding is the trapezoid piece that sticks out from the brake caliper then a little bit on the face and top and its done. Very little grinding compared to a Weld wheel.

Pic of my brakes after grinding. For a Weld wheel the little divots on the caliper would have to be completely grinded away and then some.

Pic of the back of the rim. you can just see a little bit of the line in the rim from when I was fitting them.

Is this a pic of the summit star wheel or the jegs wheel. If its the summit, is the inside flat? no drop zone? the summit drag lites that I got dont look like that on the inside.

no had to send them back and get the star wheels, If you look at the pic above of the star rim it has no drop zone, the drag lite rims have a big drop zone that starts right in the middle. I guess I was the first person to try the fake drag lites. I sould have the new wheels monday Ill let everybody know if they fit. Thanks for all the help.

oh ok, i've heard of people using a 5/16" spacer up front but i didn't use any spacer, i just grinded my calipers until they fit, its really not all that bad, but if u don't want to grind run a spacer, for the back it took very little, no spacer, there's a little tab on top of the caliper that has to be grinded off and thats it, at least thats all i had to do
