I would consider 3 tires.

Bfgoodrich KD

Bfgoodrich KDW

Goodyear GS-D3

I would never buy a tire with a 400 tread rating if you are trying to hook anything.

I priced the GS D3 at 197.00 each, If i go this way, this will be the tire i will most likely get, but i'm also looking at the newer Sumitomo HTR Z 111 for 99.00 each, they are getting great feedback on traction/handleing/wet roads/noise.

Now for another Q, would i be better off staying with 255/40/17s or will the 245/45/17s be better, i'm running 255/40/17s up front.

BFG KDW you won't be disappointed. I run 'em on a 6 sp car. I'll buy another set when it's time no hesitation.

True, but it depends if he needs all-season performance. All those tires you mentioned are worthless in the winter. Living in South Texas and Chicago are two different animals.

I ran the G-force A/S when I still had stock 16's. I was impressed with them. They're not drag radials, but great for an all-season tire.

the ASX is garbage, i can't even take on-ramps spiritedly anymore without squeeling them around the whole thing. i had some old fuzion zri's (bridgestone tire) that did a very good job for their cost. the other top of the line tire i can recommend you is the eagle f1 GS-D3. comparable to the pilot sports but about $150 cheaper per tire.
